Biden pardons Hunter

Today, I signed a pardon for my son Hunter. From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department's decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted. Without aggravating factors like use in a crime, multiple purchases, or buying a weapon as a straw purchaser, people are almost never brought to trial on felony charges solely for how they filled out a gun form. Those who were late paying their taxes because of serious addictions, but paid them back subsequently with interest and penalties, are typically given non-criminal resolutions. It is clear that Hunter was treated differently.
The charges in his cases came about only after several of my political opponents in Congress instigated them to attack me and oppose my election. Then, a carefully negotiated plea deal, agreed to by the Department of Justice, unraveled in the court room - with a number of my political opponents in Congress taking credit for bringing political pressure on the process. Had the plea deal held, it would have been a fair, reasonable resolution of Hunter's cases.
No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter's cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son - and that is wrong.
There has been an effort to break Hunter - who has been five and a half years sober, even in the face of unrelenting attacks and selective prosecution. In trying to break Hunter, they've tried to break me - and there's no reason to believe it will stop here. Enough is enough.
For my entire career I have followed a simple principle: just tell the American people the truth. They'll be fair-minded. Here's the truth: I believe in the justice system, but as I have wrestled with this, I also believe raw politics has infected this process and it led to a miscarriage of justice - and once I made this decision this weekend, there was no sense in delaying it further. I hope Americans will understand why a father and a President would come to this decision.

I think Hunter’s crimes are petty and he likely wouldn’t have been prosecuted if he wasn’t Biden’s son. But all of Biden’s complaints here are true for how Trump has been treated with so many frivolous prosecutions, in fact, 100x worse and more aggressive for the sole purpose of breaking him. Looks like they both will get their pardon. Hunter from his Dad, and Trump through his grit and perseverance and ultimately winning over the American people

Go for him

It’s the right thing to do. His son was targeted BECAUSE he was Biden’s son.

If Trump can pardon Kushner senior, Biden can pardon his own son.

I’m glad he did.

After all, Trump pardoned Ivanka’s father in law and then accepted a big donation from him.

GOP shows who they are.

This is so sad. I do think that the harassment and stress of this accelerated his aging and his health suffered. Absolutely disgusting to harass someone’s child in order to make a parent suffer. MAGA are sick f-s.

You go, Joe. You served honorably your whole life and have suffered enough in this life. Thank you for your service. I’m sorry you were treated so terribly.

Dcum needs to stfu about gun control.

Exactly. I never want to hear about more gun laws again. They don’t enforce the ones we have.

Trump will pardon J6ers and expose the corruption

Trump set the bar incredibly low. He pardoned some true scumbags, several of whom have gone on to commit more crimes. Hunter’s actions are paltry by comparison. Just read about this charmer: https://dnyuz.com/2024/08/21/trump-clemency-recipient-accused-of-assaulting-wife-and-father-in-law

Trump voter. I would do the same thing. I am not surprised. But I would hope I would raise kids to never be put in that position. More interesting question is would he have done this if he had run and won?

So Trump is responsible for this?

Actually, yes. He set the tone for a GOP that went after Hunter basically because he was Biden's son. Talk about weaponizing the justice system.

Every GOP accusation is a confession.
