The business school at IU is top 10 with accounting as a top 4. Curious as to why people think that is not going to be a hard admit - my son applied, I assumed it was pretty good with those rankings.

People don’t realize. Arts and Sciences is an easier admit.

My kids looked at it. Was a very nice campus in the middle of nowhere. Only thing out of the ordinary is they "hid" the rec center on the tour.
My kids want a nice rec center.

The problem with Indiana is that my kids wouldn't qualify for aid. Paying full price there isn't something we were interested in.

It is tough to get a direct admit to Kelley. However, most business schools are harder to get in than the school of Arts and Sciences. Smeal at Penn State is very tough to get into as well. I think the only difference is that at Smeal it is theoretically possible to get in with lower stats. Not sure how often that happens.

I am from Indiana, and attended courses through Indiana and IU - Indianapolis. Overall, it's awful. 1.) It's huge with 50,000 students and can be overwhelming. 2.) Professors are overwhelmed with research, research, and research, and TAs are teaching classes. Good luck on trying to attend office times. 3.) It's a party school.

I am from Indiana, and attended courses through Indiana and IU - Indianapolis (though this is a weird way of phrasing this). Overall, it was fine. 1.) It’s a big school, but that’s not a secret going in, nor is it unique to Indiana. 2.) Professors were always accessible because I showed interest and demonstrated I had tried to figure out the answer to questions ahead of time. Full professors were very accessible for grad school rec letters and career advice. 3.) It’s a party school.
