Was Stephen King’s X departure cowardly?

What are the new terms of service?

Musk will be able to use all your tweets, images, likeness to train X's AI bot, Grok. Unless you delete your account. There is no opt-out.

Users that access more than a million Tweets in a day will be subject to damages of $15,000. This is to stifle researchers from analyzing Twitter content.

The "Block" function will be disabled. You will no longer be able to block unwanted or harassing users.

And all disputes over the Terms of Service must solely be adjudicated in one rural court in the 5th circuit of Texas. You can't sue X in any other jurisdiction. The judge in that court has issued a bunch of pro-Musk rulings and owns a ton of Tesla stock.

wrong.

No, X is not removing the block feature, but it is changing how it works:

Blocked accounts can still view public posts: Users can still block accounts, but those accounts can see public posts unless the user makes their account private.
Blocked accounts can't engage with posts: Blocked accounts can't reply to or repost public posts.
Users can see if blocked accounts are sharing harmful information: Users can see if blocked accounts are trying to share harmful or private information about them.

Yeah he’s a coward and a loser. Definition of can dish it out but can’t take it. No worries, he’ll be back on soon enough.

Stephen King is a loser? I don't think so.

Remember the exodus from Spotify over them hosting the Joe Rogan podcast?

That’s a subjective opinion.

X sucks, blue sky sucks, truth social sucks. Social media is toxic.

Stephen King doesn’t need to prove anything.

I love Stephen King and he was the biggest target of bots I ever saw. Every time he posted, there seemed to be an army of bots whose exclusive job it was to say his books sucked and he sucked. He seemed to shrug it off, but it was pretty gross to watch him get bot-abused. I didn’t see his ultimate exit, but I hope he found his way out. Bluesky is so much better.

Back when Musk acquired X, King complained about the fee Musk was charging for verified members.

After the election, rumors began flying that Musk had kicked King off of X, to which King refuted, saying that he was still there.

Now, suddenly, King has left X because he claims it’s toxic. Wasn’t it always?

It feels like King left before Musk could made him leave, and after all he’s done to defend his stance on X, it feels cowardly that he left on his own. I think waiting and allowing petty Musk to give him the boot would have been the better look for King. Thoughts?

Who cares??
Musk didn’t invent Tesla he stayed in this country illegally and he should be in jail.

X needs to be closed

He writes easy-to-digest fiction for the lowest common denominator. Clearly he's figured out how to make money off the masses, but let's not pretend he's some amazing human being.

I think before the election, Bluesky hadn’t gained much traction, so even though Twitter was toxic, there wasn’t an alternative. Almost everyone I used to follow on Twitter has migrated to Bluesky, and lots of posters have compiled helpful “who to follow” lists that make it easy to rebuild your feed.

He wrote On Writing, The Stand, and The Dark Tower series. These are some of the most amazing books I’ve ever read. They’re not just cheap one-offs. He is an amazing author who people admire for a reason.

I won't leave until the overseas museums I follow leave. I use it for art, culture, photography, some cats like Larry at 10 Downing.
I select who can respond to my posts, don't follow politics on there, never see toxic stuff unless I go looking.

Exactly - plenty of sane content to follow and curate your following for. His exit is due to the fact that he loved to get in the ring to dish it out, but now that his political allies have been defeated, he is running with his tail between his legs like a coward.
