You are not paying attention or you are gaslighting. Stop blaming the side that didn't vote for him for the things he is actually saying and doing. And it isn't just him. He has emboldened a lot of crazy people to act on their hate for the LGBTQI+. And when those people act, you will say it wasn't his fault. |
What is he actually doing? |

"The former president in 2022 promised to sign several executive orders intended to combat “left-wing gender insanity” in the U.S. if he is reelected, including an order instructing federal agencies to cease programs that “promote” the concept that a person can transition to a different gender."
https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4936727-trump-bans-transgender-athletes/ Trump also said he would reverse Biden's transgender student protections “on day one” of his presidency. Those Title IX regulations cover discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in schools and education programs but DO NOT apply to athletics. So stop saying this is JUST about sports -- it's not sports at all. Repeating: Biden's order did NOT apply to athletics. https://www.nbcnews.com/nbc-out/out-politics-and-policy/bidens-new-title-ix-rules-protect-lgbtq-students-trans-sports-rule-sti-rcna148537 |
| Trump has appointed gay people to multiple major positions in his Administration. The Secretary of the Treasury (one of the big three cabinet positions) is gay. The head of the FTC is gay. Richard Grenfell, major foreign policy position, is gay. These are all out gay men with husbands. Stop being alarmist about homophobia where it doesn’t exist. |
Well this assurance that we we all alarmists didn’t age well for trans/non-binary folks, now did it? |
Of course you do, he was just sworn in today. Come back in a year. |
They were only talking about gay men. Not gay men and definitely not trans people. How many trans people will Trump hire? Will it even be a number greater than zero? I doubt it. |
Maybe it's time to acknowledge the LGBT+whatever alphabet needs to be retired. World of difference between gays and lesbians and the trans/non binary. Not that much in common when you get down to it. Aren't the progressives the ones who keep insisting sex and gender are two different things? If so, then acknowledge it and stop lumping everyone in the alphabet into one acronym. |
Every trans person either started out as gay/lesbian or transitioned to be gay/lesbian. The majority are bisexual. I know a couple that were married last year. Two trans men married. I know many trans women date or are married to other trans women. Sexuality and gender identity are separate but being trans doesn’t exclude you from being LGB. You obviously have very limited experience with transgender people but feel like your opinions are so important that they must be heard on the LGBTQIA+ board. |
The rhetoric at the top matters, as do policies. The hateful language incites others and normalizes version viewpoints and opinions. Just like demonizing immigrants and POC. It's disingenuous to say otherwise. |
You just proved the point. Trans are not the only group in that alphabet. It's just one out of at least seven letters yet they seem to dominate the entire conversation around sexual identities. Plenty of gays and lesbians are skeptical of trans. And there's far more of them then trans. If you knew gays and lesbians, which I do, you'd know this. |
You are delusional. The minute that orange creep was elected the first time, kids at my kids hs were calling the immigrants and minorities every horrible name in the book. The orange creep has emboldened the lowest, most dangerous of his minions to attack those they don't like. It happens everywhere now. My kids were threatened at our hotel when we were in Fl for a funeral because they were wearing masks. His minions are often violent. You clearly live in a bubble. |
100%. Remember the creep in charge mocked a person with disabilities too. He has normalized horrible behaviour and has incited violence. You're a liar if you are pretending otherwise. |
| You will always get bigoted responses on DCUM about transgender people. I’d urge any parents or loved ones of trans people to look for safer spaces than this one to talk. You might start with the Mama Bears or Mama Dragons group (which is also not on Facebook anymore, so bonus). |
