What does this even mean? What do you mean by no chance for feedback?

They mean that there isn’t time to pester the teacher into raising the overall grade.

Not sure what grade you're in but many high school courses have assignments that can be resubmitted. However, you would first need to know where you erred, and make changes in order to resubmit the assignment.
This may come as a shock to you, but this is part of how humans learn.
Attempt-> feedback->reattempt.

If by some stroke of horrible luck
You’re a teacher, please quit.

Bruh. You really type this crap out loud? What an idiotic comment. Why don’t we come to your job and determine how ineffective you are? Why do you DCUM weirdos think you lord over teachers? No wonder no one responds to your emails and concerns. When you act like an entitled idiot, then you get what you deserve. Let your kids advocate for themselves. Unless you don’t care if they live in your basement until they are 49 because they never had to do anything for themselves.

What is wrong with you? Kids are generally struggling right now. Maybe they need MORE parental intervention, not less.

Phones are causing a lot of anxiety and stress. And reducing learning at school. If parents care about their children’s education then they should be lobbying to get phones out of classrooms. You would be helping not just your own child but scores of other children as well

Then work WITH the people educating your children. No one wants to work with entitled jerks. No one.

Different pp.m You need to find a different job if your attitude is this poor. A poster asked about the grade book and you jumped all over them. When they gave you a reason as to why students need feedback from teachers in order to learn you call them entitled (and, oddly. Bruh). You seem to have plenty of time to spend on this board but are defensive about getting your own work graded with meaningful feedback, or in time.
It's time to go elsewhere and spare the students.
Please do the students who are trying to learn, and the parents who are trying to support them

What parents? I see zero advocacy and rather blame. Look in the mirror Karen. I’m so tired of entitled parents who have zero idea. You don’t know me. But I know you. And you are an awful person.

Anonymous wrote:“Lock grades” is a bit vague.

Teachers are required to submit q1 grades by 5pm Monday.

But individual teachers have different expectations. Some locked the myMCPS grade book from new submissions on Wednesday. Other teachers chose Friday at midnight. I had a few students who were sick, so I kept mine open until Sunday.

I wish more teachers would choose to (almost) finalize their grades by Wednesday because that gives students a few days to notice any errors. I like the teachers who are clear about their expectations like they will accept no late assignments after Wednesday or Thursday AND then they make sure to grade everything early too so that students are given a chance to look over the inputs to make sure they are correct. DD had a few terrible teachers last year who did not grade until hours before the grades were submitted. Students had no chance for feedback and to look over what they did wrong. One teacher was also notorious for inputting incorrect grades because she was so rushed and then there was no recourse to change them.

Ever consider the teachers do this on purpose?

Ever consider not being a jerk? Stop blaming teachers for things they do not control.

The quarter ended on 11/1. MCPS locked Canvas submissions at the end of the day. MCPS then had a professional day so that teachers could grade all of the late work that was submitted on the last day of the quarter and finalize grades. Synergy is locked for teachers at 5pm so that the grades can be pulled and report cards produced.

If your student believes there is an error with the grading for a HS credit course. Speak with the teacher tomorrow. If there truly is an error that affects the end of quarter grade, you can submit a grade change request. https://ww2.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/forms/pdf/355-27a.pdf

Don't tell teachers to quit but also don't tell parents who have legitimate concerns they are crazy or jerks.

Then don’t act like one. Less teachers in the field means zero feedback so keep running your mouth. I love this board because I can see the real reason why so many kids are stressed. It’s the adults in their lives pressuring them. Lay off and let them live their own lives. Believe me. I hear allllll about you guys.

Interesting my kid still hasn’t received a grade for a big end of quarter precalculus exam worth a significant part of the overall grade.

It is probably going in quarter 2

Well it turns out they weren’t “locked” as that grade appeared today.

You're not making yourself look any better here. And we will be perfectly fine without you.

Is it phones now? In the 80s it was heavy metal music.

They don’t seem to learn that way in college. No constant retakes. Get it right the first time - much more efficient way of doing things. And there is no MCPS policy that says you must get feedback.

Good lord! Is this real life? Teachers don't think students need feedback in order to learn? I can see why some voters want to destroy the system. It truly is broken!
