The quarter ended on 11/1. MCPS locked Canvas submissions at the end of the day. MCPS then had a professional day so that teachers could grade all of the late work that was submitted on the last day of the quarter and finalize grades. Synergy is locked for teachers at 5pm so that the grades can be pulled and report cards produced.

if there is an error, there is a process to change the grade, even after the books are closed for the quarter.

They don’t seem to learn that way in college. No constant retakes. Get it right the first time - much more efficient way of doing things. And there is no MCPS policy that says you must get feedback.

That's frustrating! It's 10% of the grade. That said, my child's teacher got it back a couple of days ago and he received a 100% and it only moved the overall percentage about 1.5%, so I don't think it will hugely influence your child's grade unless they really bombed it. It's still annoying, though!

My kid still has 4 Classwork and Homework assignments that show 0% in Synergy. Oh and Synergy states no missing assignments. No the kid was not absent. Yes the kid turned in the work. And yes, this is just enough to change kids grade from an A to a B. So guess who kid is following up with yet again today.

Sorry PP. This last minute scramble is hard for kids, parents and the teachers.

I think the union needs to demand more time for teachers to grade during the day and more professional days that do not require some kind of "education" that is useless so they can use that time to do planning, grading or even taking the day off to regroup.

Different pp.m You need to find a different job if your attitude is this poor. A poster asked about the grade book and you jumped all over them. When they gave you a reason as to why students need feedback from teachers in order to learn you call them entitled (and, oddly. Bruh). You seem to have plenty of time to spend on this board but are defensive about getting your own work graded with meaningful feedback, or in time.
It's time to go elsewhere and spare the students.
