I think men are just more likely to let themselves go after marriage. I think DH and I were equally matched when we married but then he stopped working out and gained a lot of weight.

There are so many TV shows with this pair - nice looking wife, shlubby husband. It's just socially acceptable. Still annoying.

DH is still a good husband but I worry about his health.

I think Schlubby is just the male version of frumpy. It could mean those things but even a fit guy could be Schlubby in baggy clothes, ugly haircut, etc.

I can’t tell what type of person is on this forum, but honestly maybe they really like each other, have fun together. Fell in love because they got along and enjoyed spending time together. A great heart and soul can become extremely attractive. Basic physical beauty only carries so much weight if you don’t have the heart behind it.

Shlubby guys are doctors or lawyers. They have money.

My friend is attractive and her husband is not. He is really not good looking. He’s a lawyer. She drives around in a Mercedes and her kids go to private school and now private colleges.

Why? They married for money, that is why. Don't forget they usually have an AP who nails them at their house while everyone is out. It happens more often than you think.
