We all got three covid shots in our family (my teen boys are 17 and 18 now). No more covid shots for us for a few small reasons that add up to a totally unnecessary shot in our opinion --
1. We all caught covid (some of us have had it twice) in the 3 years since being vaccinated in 2021, and it was always just a very mild cold (sore throat, fever, slight cough for a day or two)
2. The covid shots made us feel blah and feverish for a day or two
3. No doctors (at our family practice, at the college health center, at the ER after a broken bone, at the ortho) are asking us if we have had a covid booster. They only ask if we have had our flu shot (which we all have).

So we always get a flu shot (and have for the past 20 years) in September. But we do not see any reason to get a covid shot. It is no longer a novel virus. Our bodies fight this coronavirus very easily, and getting a shot does not prevent us from spreading it to others.

So I hope that helps you understand our reasoning!

The mildness of your covid symptoms is an argument for the booster, not against.

the cardiac side effects for boys & young men. and he had an adverse reaction to the first one. and covid hasn’t been that serious.

not for kids and the covid vax isn’t very effective and has side effects

The linked article is about men over 70. We’re talking about teens here.

This new variant is gonna knock you and your teens on your butts.

Maybe, maybe not. None of the previous variants have so maybe we’re due.

Spouse and I had never had it before, teen had. All three of us got the new variant and we all felt like death for 7-10 days. I have never been so sick in my life. Went through every possible type of symptom, like having a brand new virus every day.

Teen had the same experience as we did, even though he had very few symptoms for only a day last time he had covid.

Just a warning, this new variant is no joke.

Yes, our teens received the booster. Our doctors (they have different doctors since one is an adult, but still a teen) encourage it and ask about it. They are still seeing a lot of problems with COVID-related problems with teens and all been with those not vaccinated in awhile. One said these stories aren’t being reported in the media since they are never asked and would never voluntarily call up a reporter. Incidentally, one also said venereal diseases are like nothing they have seen in their careers. Apparently people have started refusing testing (including adults). They think it is a bizarre offshoot of the anti-vax movement.

I’m getting both the flu and Covid shot.

I don’t force them but someone has gotten Covid or the flu every Holiday for 4 years so I’ll ask them to.

Then you by all means should be getting every booster. My kids not getting one has absolutely no impact on you. Sure it might lessen their symptoms (which were a minor cold btw) if they get it.

My teens last got covid shots in December 2022 and were each sick for 4 days, high fever, vomitting and aches / headache.

I then read that the latest strain of Covid has exactly the same symptoms and lasts about 4 days.

So I've not made them go through it again. Flu shots but not Covid shots, same for me.

The vaccine doesn’t get you sick with Covid. Educate yourself

It’s not any different than getting a flu shot. They both try to protect you from a miserable illness.

I got Covid and it was pure agony for five days. I’ll get both shots.

Opposite for us. Covid was sniffles for a day. Flu has left us bedridden for a week.

Also, our pediatrician didn’t encourage Covid boosters but strongly encouraged the kids to have flu shots.
