World University Rankings 2025

Anonymous
This is a list that focuses on graduate school. It's not very useful for high school students. It's why Dartmouth, Brown, Rice, West Point, Annapolis, Williams, and all the other schools that tend to focus on undergrads aren't scoring that high.

It’s Berkeley light. It has academic excellence across all disciplines. The question should be; why isn’t it ranked higher at USNWR? [/quote

Carried by grad programs. Lower quality students, less resources (hence lower graduation rates, larger class sizes), and research focused faculty. Test blind at Berkeley as well - a joke.

people who get regents at berkeley are choosing top privates instead let alone regular admits

Wait - how many UCs are ranked above UVA? UMD? Huh, who knew?

California is the size of the whole east coast south of Massachusetts .. like 13 states.

But who cares after the top 25?

I think it’s the top 27, but it’s divisible by 3 and 3 is the magic number. Yes, it is.

Any School House Rock fans in the house?!?

Original or Blind Melon cover?

Somewhere in that ancient mystic trinity...

Show us on the doll where the admissions departments of these schools hurt you.

Berkeley is top 10 in Forbes, WSJ, QS and Top 20 in USNews. It consistently has programs in top 5 in almost every subject. It is a large state school and still manages to do remarkably well in almost all rankings.

+1. Will never understand the Berkeley hate on this forum. It is a strong school across the board.

DP

Dollars to donuts, most of the critics had their feelings hurt by rejections from UCLA and/or Berkeley. The rest are “private school or bust!” oddballs who are repulsed at the very idea of a public school, or parents of children who cannot thrive in anything others than a small, staid (boring?) SLAC setting.

My DC chose Berkeley with Regents OOS instead of Caltech and JHU.

Most of these are giant schools and the focus is on the graduate program. Pick one for your PHD, but for undergrad go with the smaller undergrad teaching schools.
