Correct - Trump can’t touch her conviction.

And the Colorado governor is a Democrat who is unlikely to even consider pardoning her.

Yup. She did not hack voting machines either. Good God

Presumably she didn’t murder anyone either. One doesn’t have to have committed All The Crimes to have committed crimes. Which she did.

Former Colorado county clerk Tina Peters sentenced to 9 years for voting data scheme
https://www.politico.com/news/2024/10/03/tina-peters-colorado-voting-sentenced-00182388

“I am convinced you would do it all over again if you could,” the judge told her in handing down the sentence. “You’re as defiant as any defendant this court has ever seen.”

A judge excoriated a Colorado county clerk for her crimes and lies before sentencing her Thursday to nine years behind bars for a data-breach scheme spawned from the rampant false claims about voting machine fraud in the 2020 presidential race.

District Judge Matthew Barrett told former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters — after earlier sparring with her for continuing to press discredited claims about rigged voting machines — that she never took her job seriously.

Jurors found Peters guilty in August for allowing a man to misuse a security card to access to the Mesa County election system and for being deceptive about that person’s identity.

The man was affiliated with My Pillow chief executive Mike Lindell, a prominent promoter of false claims that voting machines were manipulated to steal the election from former President Donald Trump.

Good. Too bad she and Trump can't serve theirs sentences together. One MAGA who can never vote again!

Her actions called into question if our elections were trustworthy and whether our public servants that are elected could be trusted. She endangered every other member of the clerk's office by her actions because there are people out there that are threatening county clerks because they believe the clerks are dishonest. She completely undermined the position to which she was elected and endangered her fellow coworkers.

Sorry, but I feel she is lucky to have only received 9 years. She deserves more.

The judge punished her because of her speech, and said that in court? I think this might get thrown out on appeal.
The Secretary of State ordered election results to be deleted and she made a copy for herself, giving access to someone from MyPillow.

I have read this case in it’s entirety nope no appeal will work it will be denied.
This judge handled this case in the best way possible. There is nothing for her to appeal. She will try it will be dismissed.
Thank god the judge put her in jail immediately.

I hope her back hurts like hell!

No, the judge didn’t punish her because of her speech. He punished her because she broke the law and gave no indication she wouldn’t do it all over again if given the chance.

That's highly likely, if the appeals court is as ignorant of the law as this poster.

I've been saying this about Trump supporters since 2016 - everyone likes to say they're suffering so much that of course they turned to the con man; my theory/observation has been that, no, they're so fat and comfortable and insulated that they just thought they could do ANYTHING and of course it would turn out fine. Vote for a demented clown? Ha HA my life is still good! Storm the Capitol? I've never been accountable for anything before - why would I be now?

I think you’re correct about this. All the references to “forgotten Americans” are a distraction. This woman was flying around on private planes. Hardly someone scraping by on two jobs.

I love the judge's statement, so respectful but taking no shit from the fraudster.

And the penalty was harsh to set an example and a deterrent to stop it from happening again. Peters’ actions cost Mesa County $1.4 million. She also cost the county by creating distrust in the electoral system — causing the county to conduct a time-consuming and costly hand count of ballots in 2022, which found no material difference between the machine and hand counts

"both sides"...because why not just keep claiming that when it's always their side.

College kids get punished for their speech, not MAGAs who lie more than they breathe.

I think the best punishment for Trump is that he had to spend the rest of his life surrounded by all of the MAGAs like her. He loathes them. It's what he deserves.

If you think that, you have no understanding of what the judge said.

I urge you to go back and read the transcript of the judge's sentence
https://www.coloradopolitics.com/news/transcript-of-judge-matthew-barretts-comments-to-former-mesa-county-clerk-and-recorder-tina-peters/article_f2f82a0c-8274-11ef-a74e-271faa074a98.html

or if you prefer, watch it:

What you've suggested has no relation to what the judge actually said.

I hope this deters all the MAGAs who weaseled themselves into positions of public trust from trying to steal this election.
