I would not believe everything you see on the news. They oftentimes don't fact-check. While this may be true, you cannot assume that they are correct. The news recently had a woman saying dozens of kids were killed at a location in DMV, and that's simply not true. Also, there was another person accused of something terrible
with kids a few years ago and as things came out the parents lied. The media doesn't do its job anymore. They just put out the headlines.

When you wonder how people enable abusers, just think of this person. I'm assuming you are voting for the orange guy too.

It appears that he works for Booz in an IT security background. Very good chance he has a TS security clearance.

If the federal government security clearance investigation doesn't flag anything, then SafeSport isn't going to flag anything. It's still better than nothing.

People just want to blame something or someone...background checks or safesport. You don't know what you don't know. It's tragic but being weird or even creepy isn't enough to catch a rapist. If anything, you should be frustrated that it took the police this long to figure it out.

This is sad but as many have said, there’s simply no way for a volunteer background check to flag someone who hasn’t been caught yet. It’s impossible. It’s not a TS clearance investigation. They’re just running record checks. And even a TS investigation can easily miss something if not on someone’s record and a good liar.

I saw the booze Allen thing and I think I also saw a fb pic of him w what appeared to be a wife and kid. So now the wife is the one who should have known? Is the child safe? A local softball coach was charged earlier this year with a sexual assault issue with someone underage….the girls absolutely had a “bad vibe” with him and several girls had dropped his team or avoided trying out.

This is good advice. But keep in mind there’s no indication he targeted minors, at least not yet.

ASA could not have safeguarded against this. He had no record. And yes, seems he was a parent volunteer. Say a prayer for his victims, including his family, who are likely shocked by this news and devastated.

FWIW, this really seems like a case of leading a dual life, so it’s unlikely he harmed anyone who could identify him, so none of the kids he coached in ASA or ADP. That’s how he evaded capture for all these years, by hiding and masking his crimes and his true self. And then some relative of his did a 23 and Me.
