I agree. The OP's attitude makes me afraid to get old.
As long as you have no illusions about being “independent” (if you are 80, you are most likely not) and as long as you don’t expect your kids to entertain you - you should be fine.
This. I’m the entertainment 12 hours a day.
I get it. In my case they won’t settle for anyone else. It has to be me, or “their day isn’t quite the same”.
Well of course it isn't the same. I would say yes, it's not the same, see you tomorrow.
I say yes, I get it, hopefully tomorrow or the day after. But I still feel guilty. They are like a puppy - always waiting to be played with. It’s exhausting but I can’t even say anything because they don’t really do anything.
