How much can SAT score increase with 2-3 months prep?

150 points is extremely doable in 3 months if the kid is locked in and motivated.

OP. My kid took SAT 5 times and couldn’t break a 1400 until August of senior year. There was just no time to study during junior year.

Maybe take it once or twice junior year to see but without major effort unlikely to increase

I really wish we had thought to take the August test before Junior year. Some of DD’s friends did and it was wise. She is doing the coming Oct one but she is already so busy. Her practice tests are still about 80 points lower than what she wants.

Just for clarity went from sub 1400 to 1520 August prior to senior year

11th grader prepped heavily over the summer and went from a 1350 practice to a 1470 in the August SAT, so up 120 but it was a 150 point increase in math and a 30 point decrease in verbal (790 to 760). Plans to take it again in the spring after a year of AP Lang.
