For those who got into top 20, or even top 50 schools, what AP's were taken freshmen, sophomore years?

You are delusional.

I think this really depends on region. We are in the Midwest, a top 10 district in our state, in a state where many of you want your kids to go. DS is in the highest math track offered, and I know as of now there aren't any kids in his grade that have gone above it. Based on this he gets to Calc BC as a Senior. MAYBE as a junior if you double up somewhere, but no one would be there as a sophomore. FWIW there are also no APs as a freshman here.

Mine took 13 APs including one freshman year and AP Calc BC in 10th scoring almost all 5s. But sadly a totally failure since they are only going to the University of Maryland.

Calc BC in 10th grade? What is the hurry? Granted, my kids are in private and the math track is much slower, but Calculus in 12th is serving most advanced kids just fine. Parents need to chill out.

More than half of Princeton's freshmen class last year had math beyond Calc BC. Not just a few kids. Half of the 2027 class.

1, 3, 2, 2 (I think?) but did IB classes and exams so didn’t do much in the last two years. Top10 admission. I think scores were 3, 5, 5, 5, 5, 4, 5, 5, but I’m honestly not sure.

That sounds like a T10 rigorous schedule. Bravo on your child's hard work and payoff!

Was not involved in my kids course selection. This was a magnet school.

Now we know why Princeton is the #1 school in US News' rankings again. Note to someone who has a child who wants to go to Princeton- take Calc BC in 10th grade, then if your HS offers higher math, take it. If not hop on over to a local college.

If the school offers it, you have to do it or at least most for the most competitive colleges.
If some freshman at your high school are eligible for AP Calculus then that is a highly rigorous school. I have only seen international schools and some boarding schools (where repeating 9th is common) have an established track of AP calculus in 9.

It is not just Princeton. Half of Penn and Columbia do too. It is well over half of Engineering freshman in these schools. Exposure to math beyond BC is a common math track in every top Boston and NYC private , the known public magnets, and in all the boarding schools. The bay area is the same. Internationals almost all come in to elite schools with post-BC, and they are a significant cohort.

You going are making up the crap about 1/2 of these incoming freshman classes having post calculus math.

It's a total lie and you're just trying to prey on people's anxiety by posting this.

Cut it out and stop being complete jerks.

1,3,5,4 all 5s , accepted to four top-10s and multiple T11-25. 3 semester courses post-BC calculus. No hooks.
