Do any schools have homework in elementary??? Kids have pretty wide open afternoons -- we need to get rid of the screens step one. Outside is good, but if you aren't sport, you can build models, play board games or teach them poker, cook together, build something with real tools, etc.

I have been a public school teacher for 20 years and my goal for my own children is to take advantage of what school can provide and provide opportunities that school doesn’t.

Here’s what that looks like for my kids and what I think I need to provide that school doesn’t:
- character education (church involvement, volunteer, etc.)
- screen free, unstructured outdoor playtime
- additional math support and instruction
