Mosquitos so much worse this year

All those advising people to wear long pants are not that bite-prone. I can get bitten wearing any fabric in full lengths.

The options are bug spray, treated clothes, or get bitten, unfortunately. If you're running out for a few minutes, more fabric can significantly reduce the number of bites.

Me too! I mean perhaps our doors/ screens aren’t perfect but it wasn’t a problem two months ago… so I have to think the mosquitos have multiplied (or perhaps they’re just evolutionary super-skeeters at this point in summer that can squeeze thr screens as a PP suggested!)

If you put them on like bracelets, anklets, and a funky choker (so 5 of them), the coverage is enough to keep the bugs off for minor garden trips w/o being a PITA and leaving you reeking like spray. They're reusable, so you can put them back in their packages, zip them up, and save them for next time. Worth the 2 minutes and awkward 80s style vibes, IMO.

Thanks for the tip--just ordered a pack. I am willing to try, as I get pick just going on the porch to get the mail. As for DH? I don't think he's had a bite in years.

Please report back!

We need the GMO mosquitoes NOW. The Asian Tiger mosquitoes are out of control. If liberals won't let us spray, then we need the GMO skeeters. I swear, tree hugging hippie morons care more about butterflies and bees than the fact that mosquitoes are significant public health threat because they transmit serious disease. For Christ's sake, even Dr. Fauci now has West Nile Virus because of mosquitoes in the DMV!

Either spray or GMO. Now!

You can also get Pemethrin, and spray down your garden clothes (you have to let it dry, so prepare ahead), so you won't get bitten. This will last you through several washes.

It's not feasible to wear long clothing for long when it is 103F out. Asian tiger mosquitoes also do not care. They bite through clothing.

This needs to be a campaign issue. Voters need to call their representatives and ask that they prioritize this, and they must create action committees to raise awareness of the technological possibilities. GMO mosquito start-ups need to fundraise to lobby efficiently so that Congress and the White house prioritize biotech solutions.

Spraying is toxic to humans. Genetically modified mosquitoes are not.

DP. Sure it is - as long as it is appropriately loose, it'seven better if it's wicking. People have been doing that for thousands of years. And, mosquitoes can only bite thru the material if it's tight and too thin.

I use deet, wear thick long sleeves and pants and they find the spots I’ve missed and are able to bite through my clothes. Spraying needs to come back.

FALSE. I feel like people who post this stuff aren’t the ones getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. My spouse never seems to ever have any bites, never covers up and never sprays with DEET. I can’t take the trash out without getting 4=5 bites. The super thick sweat pants don’t even work.

The mosquitos have been horrendous this year in our neighborhood. Which is weird for how dry this summer was.
