Their roles are completely different.

I think Michelle looks so free and happy since leaving the WH

+1. That said, Kamala's role does not require dowdy outfits. It's 2024, people.

The tailoring of the top was visually perfect for the framing of the shot of her speaking, especially when she gestured (see the link below, the pattern of the top mirrored her outstretched arms.) The color was great. She looked amazing. I wasn't a fan of the ginormous pony tail, which reminded me of Star Wars, but I didn't even see it until she walked off stage.

Most importantly her speech knocked it out of the park.

I'm that PP and completely agree. There is a middle ground

There has never been a woman president and the last woman that to run on a major party ticket (just 8 years ago) spent her entire career being skewered for her clothes. Kamala is also black and at constant risk of being painted as under qualified, especially given the way she got the nomination.

Michelle Obama is free to wear high fashion and to show up to the DNC in cropped pants with a kick flare and a vest with a deconstructed collar. She's not running for anything and can do what she wants. Kamala Harris has a lot more to lose.

Also I think Harris might be less interested in fashion then Obama, but this might mostly be a function of politician (cannot appear to care about feminine things that may be deemed frivolous) versus first lady (explicitly expected to embody femininity and care about things like fashion, design, and hosting).

The energy in the room noticeably changed when she walked in too. It was like the Beatles showed up. Her speech was electric -- date I say more do than Barack's.

Bandolier lapels... look amazing! Perfect fitting and styling. The shiny top she wore underneath made it all the more interesting without distracting. Love when clothes look better on the owner than the look book. Since the gimmick of look books is just piling on misfit garments this should be the norm but so rare.

Absolutely stunning. The top and braid gave me a little bit of a warrior vibe which was perfect with her speech.

Those arms are from serious workouts though.

And Ozempic, yes. She has lost a lot of body fat. It's not criticism, I've done Ozempic myself. Just keeping it real for those who can't afford.

Is the link to the full speech(es) available? I see snippets on social media but no full video.
