Scattergram v. CollegeVine for chancing?

Most schools remove legacies, recruited athletes, first gen, etc. so the scattergrams are actually pretty accurate.


Please be careful about saying “most schools.” That may be your experience but I’m fairly certain that MCPS schools do not do this.

The local DMV privates removes the hooked applicants (big donors, celebrity kids, legacies, recruited athletes). It is possible because there are only 75-125 kids per grade. I can’t imagine it would be easy to do this at a public school with 700 seniors. If your DC’s school doesn’t do this and you see random green checks outside the main cluster of green, you can 100% assume that person was hooked.
