Give me your sophomore’s schedule?

When do your kids do all of the homework for these AP/honors level classes?

Honors English
Algorithm Data
Mag PreCal
Adv Sci3 Earth Space Systems
Adv Sci4 Biology
AP US History
Foundations of Technology
Honors Spanish 3

Probably the first time she's been challenged, but she rocked it. 5 APs for junior year. We'll see how that plays out...heh.

You win! 🙄

OP there is going to be variety in what kids take Sophomore year. Mine did

Honors English
Honors Chemistry
Alg II
AP Gov
AP Comp Sci
Symphonic Band
Art
Health B (Summer)

Yours should plan to continue with graduation requirements, being sure to take classes at their level and that offers challenge. Try on an interested elective.

Yes the student can take ASL but I recommend they show a genuine interest in it.

During any downtown in class, at night after activities, weekends. Not every assignment is due the very next day.

I don't think that's right. IB classes are for 11th and 12th graders only.

This is at RM. Counselor recommended it, and know a few rising juniors who took it last year. Different schools have different rules.

Yeah, but the IB doesn’t. Which IB course and exam does this align to? Is it SL or HL?

Lunch, between activities, weekends. There is very little homework now.

Do they have A/B day schedules in MCPS? I have a kid in ES so I have no clue. Sounds like a bad idea if they have extra class time. What's wrong with 45 minute classes everyday?

Why? How can kids take honors and AP classes and not have homework? I had hours of homework in HS. In fact, college was easier because I had a lot more out of class time to get the work done.

My kids really don't have a ton of homework as long as they spend an hour a day on it. And they do a lot of it at school.

It varies by school. We have daily classes. Middle school was a/b schedule.

I wonder the same thing. This is why kids test scores and other things are down.

homework is also often only 10% of the grade - and its not looked it, only checked as "completed"

But if kids don't do it, how can they do well in the other 90% of the class? And when is their time in a 45 minute class for start homework? That isn't a lot of time to go over last night's homework, introduce and develop a new concept, and practice it.
