My sophomore's schedule from 2 yrs ago looked like this

Honors Pre-calc (this was pre AP version)
Honors Chemistry
French AP
Chinese Honors 3
Honors English 10
AP US History
Foundations of Computer Science (required)

She took half a year of Heath over the summer to keep it out of her schedule.

That schedule is hell. OP, this is not normal.

That's normal.
Mine is doing:
Math
Honors Chemistry
AP US History
Honors English 10
Art Class of their choice
AP Computer Science
Spanish

All the key graduation requirements are done except the ones you have to take at that grade level - math, English, etc.

The other schedule is 4 AP's and 3 honors and no electives.

Yours is 2 AP's, 2 honors, 2 regulars, and 1 elective

Do you not seee the difference?

That's all that is offered at my child's school and yes, they are doing one elective as my child has most of the graduation requirements done. And, the Math is AP Cal so 3 AP. The art is the choice class and the highest they can take. Not all schools offer lots of AP classes. My child has finished all their mandatory classes except English and a few other things so somehow I think they'll be just fine.

My daughter is in SMCS. Last year was:

Honors English
Algorithm Data
Mag PreCal
Adv Sci3 Earth Space Systems
Adv Sci4 Biology
AP US History
Foundations of Technology
Honors Spanish 3

Probably the first time she's been challenged, but she rocked it. 5 APs for junior year. We'll see how that plays out...heh.

There's always one parent who turns an information / helpful thread into a competition. Well done. A star for you.

I don't think that's right. IB classes are for 11th and 12th graders only.

And there’s no IB course called PreCalc.

Whitman mom already did that. No that Whitman schedule is not normal.

Normal is
English 10
Pre-cal
U.S. History
Chem
Language
Tech elective or art elective

Most sophomores do not take Physics.

It might be Chem but he's been set on Physics and I know some of his friends have done different schedules. Guess his school allows it?

That doesn't make sense but maybe their school has it. AP PreCalc is new and only some schools have it - maybe that? Our school didn't have AP pre-calc.

There are two different types of Physics so maybe he's taking the one that doesn't require a lot of math?

I don't think he's taking the super hard physics. But he'll be in Pre-Calc.

This is at RM. Counselor recommended it, and know a few rising juniors who took it last year. Different schools have different rules.

She has taken alg 2, bio, English, us history, Spanish 3, and 2 electives (art and gym) as a freshman in her old school. No AP’s were allowed for freshman.

The course offerings and what we need for college is crazy. She hates Spanish and wants to do ASL. Is that frowned upon? Maybe language class is better here.

Did she complete geometry in her old school district?
