Do you iron your kids’ clothes?

I’ve always ironed my clothes since I was a kid. I iron/steam my smaller kids clothes before school if needed. Older kids use steamer or dryer.

Probably ok for an iron, but a steamer would be easier to stay safe.

I only buy 100 percent cotton clothes for the kids and I hang things right out of the wash or dry them flat (for things I don't put in the dryer like dresses). Otherwise I try (but don't always) hang things straight out of the dryer. I only buy items that will look good with this level of maintenance.

Yes I iron for the kids for special occasions if their dress clothes have any wrinkles.

Your 10 year old can iron her own clothes. I was definitely ironing clothes at that age.

I learned a long time ago that most clothes look the same 10-15 minutes after you put them on, whether they’ve been ironed or not. Maybe that would be a good scientific experiment for you and your daughters to try together. It might be a good learning experience for both of you.

I iron things for church and other nice occasions. My kids do their own laundry and have a bad habit of shoving clothes into draws (and even the closet somehow) in ways that wrinkle them badly.

For t-shirts we sometimes use wrinkle release spray.

If my kid wants her clothes ironed, she can learn to do it. I've got like 50 years left on this planet, if I'm lucky, and every minute I spent ironing clothes for anyone, much less a child, is wasted.

Yes. Absolutely.

My kids are always well groomed when they step out of the house and ironed clothes is a part of that. Besides, others have a positive perception of a person based on their grooming and clothes. Ironing makes your clothes look cleaner, newer, well cared for and brighter. Added bonus is that they take less space in the dresser.

As an UMC immigrant, I think for me it is a SES thing and this is how I was raised. Now, of course, I do it myself. Everyone in our social circles is well dressed even in casual settings.

It is not too much work really because many athleisure clothes nowadays are made from fabric that does not need ironing or steaming. But, it requires a certain amount of resources to maintain handloomed cotton and linen fabrics.

Why on earth would you iron t shirts? Why are your t shirts wrinkled in the first place? Just take them out of the dryer when they're done.

I ocassionally do for my 3 yo if we're doing a special occasion type thing and the outfit I want to dress him in is particularly wrinkly. I think I started ironing (and washing) my own clothes somewhere between 10 and 12.

I don't even own an iron. I take things out of the dryer and fold right away because I live in an apt and share laundry facilities, so can't risk letting anything sit in the machines lest it get tossed on the floor.

It’s not weird to want your clothes ironed. Teach her to do it. It only takes a few minutes.
