When did Kamala claim to be African? |
When the GOP finally gets its butt handed to it, and I mean a resounding even-some-red-states-flipped-and-others-got-close the Democrats get the White House and Congress whooping, then the zombie party will finally be put down. They understood they faced a reckoning in 2008 and 2012, they thought they cracked the code to be a going party in 2016, and then their losses accelerated, but they’re going to need to really and truly put in their place to join us in normal town instead of carnival barking about the bearded lady and other sideshows. |
| Whatever happened to Paul Ryan? |

Ideally, Trump and Vance get trounced in November. And that's the end of MAGA. And then the GOP becomes a smart and sensible Center-Right party represented by the likes of Larry Hogan and Adam Kinzinger and the others that didn't sell their souls.
More likely, some alt-right winger from outside traditional politics will take up the mantle. Tucker Carlson seems probable. But I'm sure there are others with podcasts and whatnot who are adept at social media that will likely make a play for the MAGA base. |
The party you are hoping for is not viable nationally because it needs all of the different factions as its voter base. Unless or until the GOP accepts abortion and women's rights and rights across the board, and ditches the Evangelical Fundamentalism, it will remain a pariah. Eventually this will happen, but only after a watergate style reckoning like the PP above suggests. At that point, the progressives likely take over the Dems and the GOP becomes center right and there is a lunatic fringe until the last of the MAGAs die out in another 50 years. |

What really blew up the GOP IMHO was the decision to cater to the extreme evangelical right and mess up royally with the Roe debacle.
Had that not been touched there would've been a better chance - but (assuming Trump loses) I don't think 4 yrs is long enough to recover with any candidate that would be untainted - but perhaps in 8 yrs so long as they come with a more moderate candidate. That being said - if Harris doesn't pick a more moderate VP then I'm going to say "not my President". I do still plan to vote all red in any local elections because IMHO Harris is too progressive. I also honestly don't see Harris uniting the US at all in the next 4 yrs. POTUS needs to really look at ALL American constituents and not cater to any 1% or 2% groups and push everyone else aside. The "assimilate or else" group think has to stop. So if that gets worse...and we get someone even remotely viable in 4 years they actually might have a chance. |
Yup. I think the GOP has a real problem. There's been a permanent break/repudiation for a lot of those country club Republicans like Liz Cheney, Barbara Comstock, pundits like Jennifer Rubin, etc. I don't think those people are ever coming back. I know I'm not. I voted for George W. Bush twice. Trump made me NeverGOP, along with a lot of other suburban women. And now Trump has pi**ed off some of the true believer conservatives by repudiating Heritage and Project 2025. Not sure who's left to woo in 2028. |
Thank god. The day can’t come soon enough! |
Carlson would be even less popular. He's a smarmy ass with a very punchable face. |
I fail to see how Biden and Harris are not trying to unite. The GOP is just that far gone. The broad coalition getting behind Harris is an even bigger tent than Biden's. If people don't see it, that is a them problem. |
| Carlson/Musk would be my dream ticket |
Literally Putin's tool. The US really need to flush all of the pro-putin/pro-Russia/pro-authoritarian factions out of the political discourse. |
Why? Carlson was born somewhere between 3rd base and home plate and is a tool of Russian interests. Musk was born in South Africa and wouldn't be eligible. Neither of them have any clue how the US government works and barely have any interest in business as usual in the US. |
| Nobody is as funny and outlandish as Trump. Tucker is the closest, I guess? GOP from Washington to local offices is top to bottom weird dorks. |
Musk can still run for VP, you can't be president if you're not from here |
