When did August become Fall?

What? This post feels like the twilight zone. I'm in DC and nobody is talking about fall or wearing chunky sweaters. It's like a billion degrees outside AND we still have almost 4 weeks until the schools start back. To me, fall starts in October. September is kind of a lovely in between month, similar to June, that has gorgeous weather and that exciting "seasons changing" vibe.

To me, September is quasi-fall. Not quite summer but also not time to break out pumpkin anything.

As someone who loves fall and pretty much everything about it (the cooler weather and the change in colors and the fashions and yes pumpkin spice and back to school supplies and all of it) I get why people want to rush it. About mid-August I start *craving* fall. Also the second football season starts I always feel like "oh is it fall now."

But agree with others that it doesn't really start until it begins to cool off which is October. Late September at the earliest (some trees will start to change color then). In DC you can't really even wear many fall clothes until late October.

But doesn't it sound nice -- wearing a cozy fisherman's sweater and corduroys and a pair of boots while sipping hot apple cider and reading a book in brisk 55 degree weather on a plaid flannel blanket under a big oak tree in full reddish orange color. Wondrous. I don't blame people for wanting to hurry it along. I am sick of the heat!

I find it absurd that ANYone would consider it Fall already…..this early in August!

I can kind of understand late August since that is when some classes begin.

I live on the West Coast + I guarantee you that no one here is wearing a sweater!!
We are smack dab in the middle of a tropical heat wave so Fall is only a pipe dream at this point.

Wake me up…..when September ends……🎵🎶
Or in my case, mid-October!
