When did August become Fall?

Anonymous
Spring: March-May
Summer: June-August
Fall: September-November
Winter: December-February

Things are shifting so much because of climate changes, it's almost like...

Spring: Feb-April
Summer: May-Sept
Fall: Oct-Dec
Winter: Jan

It seems like January is the only month in which we actually get very cold or inclement weather. I don't even recall wearing my heavy winter jacket last year.

In my religion, this is the first harvest. The harvest of the fruit. We all spend time in August at wineries and the Renn Fest. The fall is the harvest of the grain. It is not fall. It's time to get more relaxing and socializing in.

Jan-Mar - winter
Apr-Jun - spring
Jul-Sept - summer
Oct-Dec - fall

Which is only a 7-10 days off from the calendar dates. I remember my aunt arguing that my son was a winter baby when he has a birth date of Dec 1. I don't feel like he's a winter or even Christmas baby.

December is winter for sure.

December-March = winter
April-May = spring
June-August = summer
September-November = fall

This is correct and final.

I always loved the Rod Stewart Maggie May lyric “It’s late September and I really ought to be back at school.” I think it refers to Michaelmas term. That should equal fall.

I cannot wait until “hitting yourself in the face with a claw hammer” becomes trendy on so it media. I’m looking forward to seeing a lot of people trying to trend.

And yet I've seen multiple people in real life and on social media welcoming the start of Fall.

My office switched to casual dress when they made everyone hybrid 3 WFH days, 2 office days. I'm in the office today for a meeting later and several coworkers are wearing chunky sweaters and flannels. They even chatted this morning about being so excited to break out their comfy sweaters.

The pumpkin spice creamer has made an appearance in the office kitchen. Reception has switched to a fall harvest candle on the warmer.

When does Fall start in your eyes? For me, it's October. We do a yearly family beach trip in September to OCMD and have never had cool weather for it. When we lived in a house with an in-ground pool, we always kept it open until mid-October.

When stores started puting Halloween candy/decorations out. It's ridiculous as Fall is ushered wmith autumnal
equinox and crisp weather and you need a jacket

My friend and I were just talking about this.
Summer just got into full swing a month ago, and suddenly people are lamenting the “end of summer”.

I think in some cases, it’s parents being anxious for their kids to go back to school, and in others, it’s the chronically online crowd constantly needing a new thing to talk about.

For me and my peers, this is mid-summer. Summer goes to nearly the end of September.

School supplies rolled out before the Fourth of July! My kids had only been out of school for 2 weeks before the stores were pushing school supplies on us again.

My cousin's kids have been back in school for almost a month, though. They live in AZ and started back on 7/15. They get out like May 19 or something like that.

Fall starts in October. But I long for fall in June. Maybe even May. Sometimes April.

I always thought it was
Dec-Feb - winter
Mar-May - spring
June-Aug - summer
Sep-Nov - fall

I get that the actual start of these seasons is the 20th of the months I listed but in my mind the above are the seasons. I grew up in Southern California though and we didn't really have seasons so my vote probably doesn't count.

My kids' first day is August 27 this year, so we are definitely not in fall right now! To me, fall isn't until after Labor Day, but we live on the water so it still feels like summer until then.

Fall starts when the humidity drops and the air has a chill to it. I won't buy pumpkin spice creamer until that happens. Ignore everyone else.

Only desperate try hards make seasons begin months before they actually do. People will have pumpkins and harvest signs in their August front porch school photos. So thirsty.

If you go by the sun sunshine quarters,

Winter is the dark quarter - sixish weeks before and after winter solstice roughly Nov-Jan
Spring is sixish weeks before and after spring equinox roughly Feb-Apr
Summer is the light quarter sixish weeks before and after summer solstice roughly May-Jul
Fall is sixish weeks before and after fall equinox roughly Aug-Oct

I know no one wearing chunky sweaters in the DC area today.
