It doesn’t break down neatly like that. Probably 95%+ of Jews would be “liberal” on abortion On tax and spending policy it would probably be more even. On the question of Israeli security, most Jewish folks want to see a strong & safe Israel. Would normally side with “conservative” position on Israel, though even a cohort of Dems are basically conservative when it comes to Israel. The post-1980 émigrée Jews from the former USSR or Israel tend to skew way more “conservative” in the Fox News sense. Lots of RWNJs amongst that group and very open to anti-LGBTQ rhetoric, authoritarian leaders, silencing of free speech, actively racist, etc. It’s a trauma response to the collapse of the USSR. They really remind me of the white Cubans who populate the rightwing in Florida - they come here with trauma, are quick to throw around the “socialist” liberally, and want to look down on other minority groups (both hate blacks, Cubans sh#t all over Mexicans/Central Americans, post-1980 émigrée Jews sh#t all over the reform Ashkenazi who created a flourishing Americanized culture in the post-War decades) |

I'm a Conservative Jew and all the Conservative Jews I know are staunch Democrats. And very few vote just on Israel or US-Israel policy. If I wanted to live in Israel, I could. I don't. I am an American and I vote my interests in America. Chiefly, women's rights, separation of religion and the state, freedom of speech and religion, and preserving democracy. Hard right folks of any religion will be hard right no matter what. Most Jews in the US are Reform or non-affiliated anyway, and they're largely going to vote Democrat. Not to mention that how we vote has nothing to do with our spiritual observance. |
