The Orthodox/conservative Jews I know and follow on social media are leaning in really hard right now on the “how can you call yourself a good Jew if you vote for Democrats” messaging. It’s everywhere, especially with younger Orthodox & conservative Jews who have way less filter than their older peers. This is Trump signaling to the Russian Orthodox and hard right Israelis in Florida, Deal NJ, Monsey, Brooklyn, etc. They love him for saying this because they actually think the reform Jews of the U.S. who have been here for 2-3 generations are weak and not “real Jews” |

I disagree. Accusing any American Jew of being "a bad Jew" or "not really Jewish" because of their enthusiasm (or lack thereof) for the Government of Israel's actions is itself antisemitic. It plays into old stereotypes of Jews as having dual loyalties. Since we are supposed to call out antisemitism when we see it, it's good to look at this square in the face and say "That's antisemitic and wrong." |
