I was a competitive teen swimmer. Used a tampon on the first day of my first period and never looked back. I still swim 3-4 days per week and far prefer a silicone menstrual cup now. Definitely a learning curve, but worth looking into. |
Taught her to use tampons on day 1. |
Some girls learn quickly, others need more time and practice to figure out tampons. DD was not comfortable at first but I did not want my DD missing practices and meets, so I bribed her. She has it figured out now, did not miss any practices or meets this summer, and earned a fantastic reward. |
please share what the reward was, no joke, looking for ideas |
I'm an adult with teen children who still can't figure out tampons, really. I can install one, but I never stop feeling it and remain convinced I am still doing it wrong even after years using them at the beach. So I have a super hard time envisioning how a kid could figure it out or how I could possibly help. |
My girls felt better when they exercised during their period |
It’s swimwear designed for periods, not underwear, and it’s fine. You’re not the arbiter of menstruation. When I was a competitive swimmer in high school, I couldn’t use tampons and so went on birth control and skipped my periods. I had teammates who did the same. |
