Radio? I am surprised that the neighborhood learned of it the next day. Had we known sooner , likely someone would have tipped the police at Wegmans. Seems like the police didn't know tho, since there is an officer IN Wegmans. How long did it take PIW to notice this absence. It's one thing to have a hospital for the criminally insane on your block, another to have a remiss hospital for the criminally insane. Their security and police backup both seem to have failed here. If four teens can get away and stay away?

Actually the police did know. It was reported that night the incident happened. And the detailed officers were on the scene. PIW didn’t fail anyone . PIW done all possible to prevent them from escaping. For crying sakes these are experienced criminals whom caused harm to a staff and also committed robbery. What more do you want PIW to do other than what was done.

PIW is so notorious for violent criminals escaping that there is a police cruiser stationed there full time. Perhaps PIW should increase their own security infrastructure and protocols? Just a thought.

PIW is a hospital though. Not a prison.

PIW is contracted by DC government to provide pre trial evaluation and detention services for violent and nonviolent offenders. Neither PIW nor DC government seem to care that PIW is obviously ill equipped and competent to perform this function. But of course PIW takes the money anyway without concern that their negligence is endangering the community.
