Because it will be torn up by DC's criminal youth. |
Where are you posting from? There are lots of nice things in DC. |
Clemyjontri is amazing and worth the drive from DC. OP, you know exactly why we can't have parks like this, and we also don't pay anywhere near as much in taxes as they do in VA and MD. |
Yes, that is exactly what OP is recommending. The conversations in your head must be fascinating. |
And I'm sure you are OK with all of the assaults, car jackings, and mob shoplifting correct? |
there are no playgrounds or rec facilities taken over by homeless people that I know of. |
what does pointing out that DC has good outdoors and rec facilities have to do with that? |
| A well connected and determined mom desired a playground like that for her own child, so she made it happen. She raised the money and got the authorities to agree. She lives in or near Palo Alto, so that’s where she had it built. It’s not rocket science. If she lived in DC, it would have been built in DC. It takes the right people with strong motivation and resources or connections to resources to make something like this happen. |
The way you got that from the above comment is baffling. You must be thicker than cheap grits. |
The discussion was about cops shooting kids. Yet you ignore the dangerous criminals that you want to refer to as just "kids". This is why we (no really you) cannot have nice parks. I'm sure you are baffled alot btw. |
| We get housing vouchers and other giveaways. |
| We pay for these drunk old guys to be able to not work. I live by Logan circle — there are entire buildings full of them. Thats more important than parks OP. |
| Who cares about the young when you can support the mentally ill living in parks? |
|
Many Marylanders come to DC to use the parks. So, that tells me they're pretty good. The playground at Takoma Aquatic Center, Turkey Thicket, and many others attract people from all around. They playgrounds and pools are great.
And the rec centers have lots of programs for Seniors. Many more than the wealthy suburb I grew up in. |
| Newark playground is a little like this. |
