at what age can I stop getting bikini waxes :-)

I'm not sorry. Going out with pubic hair in public is gross. Looks dirty.

As I was last getting waxed I started to wonder why I never see older women going into the wax rooms (I’m sure I’m an older woman to most of you on dcum - I’m a long time reader).

I’ve never been able to shave in that area without getting a shave rash and ingrown hairs. I’ve never looked into laser - I don’t know many women who have done laser in their bikini area, I think that became more standard with women younger than I am. So for me it is waxing or natural!

I just trim with scissors (carefully). Anything else gives me a rash. As I get older, I have less hair to worry about, so that’s a plus. But maybe I also just buy generous covering bathing suits.

I was seriously a hairy person but now nearing menopause, the hair down their has fallen off a cliff. It takes very little effort to groom with a razor now compared to my younger years.

Does a 60 year old really have anything to worry about? I'm not there yet but at this rate, the answer for me seems to be "no."

DP- you are lucky. No such thinning here and I’m in my 50s.

I'm hairless pretty much everywhere else.

Oh I'm sure they're cleaner in mind and body than you are, weirdo.

And we weren't talking about showing pubic hair. Some of us don't need to do anything to it - it doesn't show in swimsuits, and we're fine with how we look in our private lives.

We really need some good guidebooks for growing older. When I think about how much is out there for trying to conceive, for handling pregnancy, for virtually every other phase of being female, it makes me sorry to see how little info is out there for our aging selves.

With little warning (and no experience) I had to provide many an intimate service for my ailing, elderly mother. In her late 80s, she still had a full head of hair, but hadn't needed hair removal in years. Totally bare everywhere else.

"What To Expect When You're 60+" would be a big help.

Laser hair removal is great! it is permanent. I had it done in my early 40's, but probably not too late at 60. Great gift for 30 something daughters, daughter-in-laws.

This needs to happen!

Also 45+ for those of us entering or in perimenopause.

Ah, sorry, I'm the original PP and I just assumed that everyone had this. Like I said, I have always had to deal extensively with this but lately things seemed to have calmed down, though I still have a lot of hair on my head. Really, things look a little unpretty down there. I wouldn't mind a little hair to cover up. Oh well.

You can get surgery to fix saggy lips.

Swim skirt! No need to shave. It's awesome!

It depends. Do you really want him to struggle finding a pea in a plate of spaghetti?

I am going to suggest that most people stop giving a damn about what other people think in their 40s and do what makes them happy. You do you.

Is it that hard to grasp that OP likes the look and feel and result of the wax but finds the actual waxing to be uncomfortable. But in the end a waxing appointment is only about 15 minutes of your life every few weeks so some people accept that uncomfortable 15 minutes for a long term solution to unwanted hair.

Then why is she writing?

To see if other women have just gradually had their hair thin or what to do about skin getting more sensitive. She isn't saying she wants permission to be hairy. She in fact is saying she wants to remain groomed there.

You should take a look at *how* she worded the title and post. Weirdly asking other randoms for permission instead of saying I hate waxing bc i am sensitive - what else is out there for me?

I’m OP. My title for the post was tongue in cheek, hence the smiley face. Do you really take all words so literally? If you do, the PP above you well summarized the gist my questions.

Helpful to read some of these answers, thanks. Hopefully by age 80 I can stop .
