If it’s just one tooth you can totally chew on the other side. I had 2 wisdom teeth pulled on the same side and was able to eat a soft bagel that night for dinner. I just chewed on the opposite side. I was able to eat normally the next day. They were NOT impacted.

OP. here! Twoish days after my extraction, and I'm feeling pretty great already. It's odd to only use the opposite side of my mouth to chew, but I'm getting the hang of it.

Thanks again for all the suggestions! I think I have a congee addiction now, and I indulged in pancakes for dinner the other night. Yay food!

Ah! I am late to this party and was just going to post a belated suggestion of pancakes!

Oatmeal, canned soup, rice pudding, hummus, Mac and cheese, ice cream, mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, cauliflower puree, baby food (cones in many flavors ).

If you have a food processor you can do some interesting vegetable purees, boosted by spices, onion etc. I did this the week before a colonoscopy procedure.
