Meets canceled due to extreme heat?

Agree it wasn't too bad, but I think ours should have started earlier. It ran from 9 to 11:45. An hour earlier would have been better.

It wasn’t bad at our meet earlier. People underestimate the importance of sleep. An hour earlier and the kids likely would’ve been more tired and not swam quite as well

No thanks. Ours started at 9:00 and ended at 11:30. Warm up was 8:00 and we had to meet in our pool to caravan to another pool at 7:40. Starting an hour earlier would be too much.

The heat wasn’t bad, but even our (typically frigid, unheated, fairly “fast”) pool was far too warm. 80% of kids added a bit of time, which could be due to the outside heat and the pool temp. Or just second week slump.

I'm more worries about carnival relays. Right not it's supposed to be 95 plus 50% chance of thunderstorms.

Our meets start at 8:30 (warm ups 7:30) and the opposing team wanted to start at 8a with warm ups at 7a. Given their pool was 45-60 minutes away, we declined.

It actually wasn't horrible. I have been to MUCH hotter meets.

Any complaints from neighbors? Do you make announcements? (I’m not saying you should or shouldn’t, but we do get complaints even with a 9:00 start.)

Do they ever move those meets due to weather? Or just wait it out in the car? (It’s never been stormy when we have had them but my kids are young)

100% agree. Really hoping it doesn’t storm as that makes the night so long. No, they don’t move them.

Omg - this is a nonissue.

Sheesh. The neighbors in the houses around our pool claim they can't hear. They are lying (I'm further away from our pool and can still hear sometimes), but it's a nice white lie. It helps that the closest of them had kids on swim team years ago and have fond memories.

They can't move them. Pools are telling their membership that the pool is closed during prime afterwork hours in the middle of the summer in order to cater to a small subset of the swim team. It's already hard enough to find hosts, getting membership to agree to close the pool on another day would be hard

That works if you have lights. No all pools have them and some that do are restricted in how late they can remain on

The sun is up by 7:30 am. It’s not an issue.

NVSL will wait it out as much as possible, but if they have to they’ll move to Thursday. It’s been done in the past. It could depend on where you are compared to storms and thunder.
