OP here- DS is interested in MEC or Materials engineering. He's big on sustainability and robotics.

In 9th he is in Physics Honors- highest available for 9th- qualifies you to take AP your senior year. He's in Algebra 2 honors, on track for Calc BC, not sure about multivariable. Taking a robotics class and participating in the robotics club. They also have a few engineering electives available later on.

What are some good clubs or organizations he can work with outside of school?

Neither. Better to do AP Chem, AP PhysC, BC calc , multivariable, linear algebra….any of those not done yet would be better. And highest rigor in non-stem. If all those are done, AP Stat is better than APES
