I teach at Tj. Many of my students this year are going to George Mason, one did not get into any college he could afford and no scholarships, many are perusing non-stem majors. |
This year, more than half of the students admitted by TJ from DS middle school, one of the feeders, are not STEM strong kids. Among them, there are quite a few kids strong in writing and communication. |
I am sure Perdue does its share of engineering the chicken, so this statement still holds true 😁 |
From our feeder middle school, offers received had Algebra 2 or Geometry. No Algebra1 students. |
GMU is a fine school but I think we have a lot more GMU than in the past. Is this a money thing or academic thing? |
A lot going to William & Mary and Tulane |
William & Mary has always been keen on TJ students. |
Are we talking class of 2024 or 2025? |
Only 90 at this point. Surprisingly few to UVA and VT so far. |
It could be both and nothing wrong with it. This year grad has some low income families. GMU is a good school, you can stay with parents. You can save alot of money. And really, not all families think that undergrad school is worth $250k! |
There are all kinds of scholarships for STEM strong URM students. |
This year lots of going to Purdue, maybe record breaking numbers.
It is a great news. Purdue is highly regarded STEM college. Their graduate is well respected. |
Is your kid get a scholarship too? Tell us your awesome story. |
$250k would be cheap. Try over $400k. |
11 to Purdue and 2 to Virginia Tech? |
