| Paranoia over private school admissions. It really was helpful to learning the ropes of that process and finding best fit, plus the related gossip. Most gossip has turned out to be true! Have stayed for everything else. I swore I’d get off when last kid got into high school but here I am |

| There was a local chat feature on Yelp about ten years ago. I mentioned that I was looking for a new community to chat with, and one of the regulars mentioned DCUM. I will never forget the warning he attached-- he said it could get catty, lol. I left Yelp, came here, and never looked back. |

I'm one of the people who snuck in with the catering crew, i.e. somewhere out in flyover land.
How I came here: Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearings. I was searching google to see what I could learn about Georgetown prep and landed on a couple of threads from (iirc) a couple of years before he was nominated, where people were arguing about prep schools. It really did seem like Georgetown Prep was for entitled a$$holes. And then I saw the Trump women fashion mishaps thread, and there was no going back. I experienced the nice bowl of fruit in real time but came late to the lightly fried tuna (I did find the original thread). Also I appreciate the recurring Scott vs Charmin but have learned the real answer is a bidet. Or else hover at work and toss your wipes on the floor for the cleaning people (you know who I mean). |

I found it because of searching about health issues in 2013.
Now I browse through Travel mostly, Off Topic, and AAP. I love the Word and Geography game! |

In 2014 I started googling private elementary schools in the Bethesda area.
What has been good about finding DCUM is that I've learned about camps that I would not have otherwise heard about and later on a college counselor we worked with as well as tutoring companies. |

I am a Nanny (and have been for many years!) so I originally was on a website called “I Saw Your Nanny” where people would post bad things that they had seen Nannies in their communities do.
Many posters had referenced this blog as a good Nanny blog so originally I came on here for the Nanny Forums. Then I ventured into the other forums & it was instant addiction. Like a reality show in a weird way. My favorite topics are 1.) Off-Topic, 2.) Relationships + 3.) Entertainment |
