Not many. And with working families, most kids are either in day care or in front of a screen all summer or with a grandparent if the family can't afford camp. |

Not really as they are going back next year. A break is due because school day is too long in US. Our school is only a mile away, but too far for me as I'm the one who has to drop them off.
We will be home doing nothing. |
Yes many. Maybe not most. But many many kids are at home with a loving parent or caregiver and enjoying it. |
| American school summer vacations are way too long and there is not enough time off during the year. Uk is much better where you get 6-8 weeks during the summer then a break every 6 weeks |

I get the existential sad feelings like something has passed that I wont get back.
But I also feel relief because my son doesnt like school (adhd and inability to sit still have squashed his joy of learning in that environment) and is a happier calmer person in summer months. So I see both sides. |
