I heard that they don’t really cut the teams, just the rosters get bigger and they move kids around. |
| Arlington is an organization that just wants money. They barely take care of their top teams - the lower teams are completely ignored once the whole roster is paid up. |
What would you consider “taking care of a team”? |
|
There are two questions here. Can you move up at Arlington? Yes, I personally know of a child who moved from Black up through each rung on the ladder to academy and is now playing in college. They were consistently the best player at lower level every year, but had specific and obvious gaps in their play that eventually they fixed. Pretty much when up one team every year until HS years.
Second question. What about staying on lower teams? This is really dependent on the coaches, and frankly the other parents, in your group. If your kid is on a Blue or white team with people they like, and the parents are chill, then the only thing you want is consistent coaching that doesn’t make your kid feel like shit. If your Blue team has a bunch of parents who think their child should be playing ECNL and getting recruited for college, then your time on Blue is gonna suck. If everyone understands it’s a way for your kids to test themselves, make friends and build the skills so they can also play in HS, then you will be happy. |
So, why would they cut lower level players and bring in new kids on those lower teams when they are not cutting the whole team. Not sure I understand the point of cutting just a couple of players on a lower level team that will eventually probably be cut when older or merge onto a larger team when they age up. |
I heard about a whole bunch of kids cut from low level teams and a lot of new players were brought onto those same low level teams. Why would ASA cut old members just to train new kids rather than keeping kids that had been trained for one or more years? |

My son didn't particularly enjoy it. He was only a good social fit with 3 other boys on the team, and the rest of the team sort of iced out the group of 4.
He did get exercise and improve, but the team never really progressed past the kick and run style. I feel like the coach was good but kind of gave up on the team, which is understandable given how little improvement the team as a whole made. |
