| I agree with you OP. We ride on sidewalks at times with our kid because it’s safer. BUT e slow down for pedestrians and give them right of way. Flying along is just rude. |
| If it were not for all the selfish MAGA-suv drivers on their phones, we would not have to use the sidewalks. |
Surely it’s legal for children to ride on sidewalks in Gaithersburg? |
And it's as dangerous for him--if he's going that fast and he hits you, a dog, a mailbox, a bad curb cut, etc. it's not going to end well. As a bicyclist, I hate to see stuff like this. |
Car-jackers drive off scott-free due to “no pursuit” policies, and you seriously think Cops are going to chase-down kids riding bicycles !?! Lol; omg. |
+1. This area is well known for its heavy MAGA population. |
No one cares about some stupid Gaithersburg ordinance. Tell your kids to use sidewalks if it’s safer. |
That's a joke, right? |
DP, I took it as sarcasm. I also wondered if the other poster meant to say mega-SUV instead and autocorrect changed the meaning. |
| If it's a mountain bike they can go on the grass so you wouldn't have to move. The problem is you don't know if you should jump out of the way or stay put. |
| The biggest problem with bikes is speed. They should be slowing down as they approach people to pass them at a low speed so that they can stop if the person doesn't notice them or moves the wrong direction. If they're flying by they're in teh wrong. |
| "Pedestrian place, pedestrian pace" is the mantra I teach my kids (and employ when I do ride on the sidewalks). |
I blame Trump! |
+1 I ride on the sidewalk with my 4yo (road if I’m by myself) and I’m militant that as the faster vehicle, we give way to pedestrians, stop and walk your bike if necessary, and only pass people if there’s plenty of space and they seem aware of you. |
You don’t HAVE to drive a car either. So stupid. |
