6 year old and pullups

Some of the criticisms on here are truly unbelievable. Personally I empathize with the kids who might struggle with keeping dry at night and if wearing a pull-up to bed helps them sleep better I don’t think it’s going to hurt anyone. I’ve known a bunch of kids who were still wearing pull-ups throughout elementary school for bedtime and they’ve all turned out fine.

Let him wear his typical undies and then just put the pull-up over them at nights. This way he still feels the wet of the undies but you don’t have to change the sheets.

Forty years ago, my husband was an 8 year old boy wetting the bed every night. There were no pull up’s so my MIL cleaned sheets every day. I remember babysitting boys that were 7-8 years old and their rooms reeked of urine.

Wetting the bed at night was just as common 40 years ago as it is now but no one talked about it and you didn’t have DCUM to hear about it anonymously.

He is not fully emptying his bladder if his pajamas are slightly damp. He is learning not to pee at night. It’s either a wacky coincidence that the introduction of disposable diapers coincided with the progressive increase in nighttime and daytime potty training age, or the convenience of diapers has delayed potty training. Kids don’t have to be rushed to potty train, but just know that in 1950, 90% were daytime trained by 18 mo. So clearly, most of the 3 and 4 year olds still in pull-ups today could have been out of diapers in different circumstances.

What are you talking about? My 70 year old mother still holds trauma from wetting the bed in elementary school and being shamed by her parents. It's biological and genetic. But the realization of that is modern, and thankfully most of us know better and treat our kids better now.

My mom too. Her mom would hang the sheets on the line outside so everyone knew. How sad.

I think kids nowadays are mostly accepting if one of their friends still has night accidents and need a pull-up because it has become so common. My kid brought them for sleepovers and never was an issue.
