You insult the students by wondering if your normal child will fit. Also, intellectual is somehow not normal? |
It's not racist at all. Most woke people are affluent white females. It refers to acceptance of post-modernist/neo-Marxist theories about society. |
Good lord, try again... |
You are likely too stupid to understand that. Only capable of calling people racist whenever they don't accept your f'ed up opinions. |
+1 The lack of self-awareness and false sense of moral superiority with these people is amusing. They don't get they are as bad as the people they constantly howl about. |
Too stupid to understand your debunked Marxist conspiracy theories??? Mmmkay... |

| OP - I was born and raised in Minneapolis. While it has been several decades, the stereotypical Carleton student to me was very smart, high achieving, and a bit odd. I agree that you should visit if you can. I would want to understand how integrated and appreciated athletes are in that cohort. |
|
OP I am also from Minneapolis and agree with the PP. The people I know that went to Carleton are very interesting and successful and are really die hard fans of their school.
I have family of current and recent student athletes at Carleton and spent a good deal of time discussing their experience with them to see if it would be a fit for my daughter. Your son would be fine there as an athlete. My family members suggested my daughter might have a harder time finding a peer group she fit in with as the athletes naturally form friendships from their sports, they arrive early to campus so they already are bonded when the other students get there. I think going to the admitted students pages for 2028 on Instagram might be helpful seeing the bios of kids gives a general feel for the types of students that will be in his general peer group. As far as career services go it seems pretty minimal. Seems like most kids just go to grad school. |
My current student finds the career services to be very active. They reach out to students proactively to help with internships, etc., including a special program for internships over the long winter break. Of course, many students do pursue grad school. Carleton has long educated undergrads who want to go on to further studies. It's the 6th highest undergrad producer of Ph.D.s per capita after Cal Tech, Harvey Mudd, Swarthmore, MIT, and Hampshire. https://www.collegetransitions.com/dataverse/top-feeders-phd-programs |
Tell us you are stupid in the first sentence "woke" OP this post is garbage as usual from the MAGA dumb crowd. Carlton is a lovely school, smart intelligent kind kids for the most part. Your kid will find their peeps. If you are overly concerned about the social climate of a school then it is not the right place for your kid. And describing your kid as "normal" is weird. They are adults they are going to college to get a degree to get a job. Will Carlton have a courseload and major your kid likes? Does the career center have internships for that major or connections to jobs? Is the curriculum ie courseload what your young adult wants to study? Those are the ? you should be asking. It's a small school either your kid wants a small school or not. |
So no athletes are woke? All this concern about athletes fitting in is funny. Especially at Carleton. |
It's the Dobbs dork. He/she can always be identified by his/her abrasive, incoherent writing style. |
Our son graduated from Carleton recently. He loved it. Said the profs were passionate and engaging and the students intelligent, friendly, and unpretentious. There was no discernible divide between athletes and non-athletes. He had several friends at Chicago and didn’t notice a difference in “wokeness” when visiting their campus or vice versa. He is very pro free speech, fwiw. |
How is it for kids who want to go into business - consulting, banking etc ? |
