Copa Talento 2024

Are you even allowed to charge admission fees to a public park? You aren't allowed to in Fairfax.

Who cares

Jeff Cup, OBGC, EDP Cup, Copa Rayodos - these are some of the bigger tournaments that teams play in. If there is any fee it is already baked into the registration fee.

I honestly can't think of another tournament that charges entry fees. Maybe one of the EDP Cup tournaments at Tuckahoe? Nothing around here charges that I can think of. Jefferson Cup doesn't, Bethesda Cup doesn't and the lesser tournaments like OBGC, Virginian, WAGS, etc. They don't charge. ECNL Showcases do not charge at least not in Richmond, Florida, or SC. What other tournaments charge to enter?

So in other words, no other tournaments charge an "entry fee". Sure, the team entry fee may be high enough to cover the costs of having spectators there, but no other tournament charges an entry fee. And I don't care if they would. A prior poster stated it's standard to charge an entry fee and I can't think of one...besides the Copa Talento. Just wondering if anyone else knows of any. Thanks.

Disney tournaments charge a spectator entry fee.

They are fine with paying Disney anything they want.
If Disney had a 'breathe oxygen' surcharge, they'd happily pay it

The objection is more about who is charging

Copa Talento is the biggest money grab and most unorganized tournament. On top of the registration fee, you have to pay:

1. Ref fee per game
2. Entrance fee of $25 per person PER day
3. Players who lost their wristband had to pay $10 to get a new one - depending on who's at the desk. Some would just give it to you for free other would try to charge you. Unfair to make players have to play for a wristband.

Our first game was 11am on Friday. Ref was over 30mins late. No communication was provided.
There were no updates to new game time. Scores were updated incorrectly.
Ref could not control the game.

United Futsal charges an entry fee but it is more reasonable. You are playing at the convention center, and it is $35 for the event, not $25 per day.

No doubt there were some great teams out there.

The tournament is poorly managed.

It was a waste of time. This event was targeted towards the Hispanics and young age group. Soccer is in their blood. They will pay any amount to see their kid play with the hope that they will been seen and scouted. The parents of the younger players soak up the attention. I was at practice this evening and overheard parents gushing over how their child was approached by a scout from the event.

Sweet spot I agree is for 9-15 year old boys other than that it’s a just another tournament with lots of needed latin flair so it’s fun, everyone needs to chill. Scouts are legit but it’s one thing to be ID’d at 12 and actually making a youth team roster so those parents could chill a bit too but it’s pride, let them live puppies and unicorns!

Copa Rincon charged admission too. I would rather the fees be all baked into registration fee, but it's all the same compared to other tournaments that charge more up front. It was hit as hell but there were lots of good teams and kids. The schedule was a mess with some games starting over an hour late but it was fun overall.

Saw the list of scouts; didn’t recognize any of them. lol.
