They really need 6 or 7, because I'm going to be in the rack for 45 minutes and I really hate inconveniencing everyone. What I really want is a true black iron gym, but apparently they don't exist in the DC area.

Sounds like you are looking for DMV Iron or Tyson’s Playground. They are both in Virginia though.

The mirrors were on the long ends of the rectangle and the teacher at the short end. It was truly absurd-a huge safety issue to have people swinging weights around with no mirror to check themselves...and terrible audio...its just a huge fail...like it was designed by someone who had truly never stepped foot in a gym.

I hate hearing this. I have been waiting for it to open and my primary interest is in the classes. I have a free pass to take one so I can test it out myself, but have you been back for additional classes? Any improvement? Does anyone else have feedback on the classes? I'm on the fence and only want to commit if I can have a good class experience at least 4x per week.

Give the boxing a try at Strike Studio.

Boxing is the one class I have no interest in. I’ve done it, but i don’t enjoy it. Hoping for feedback on the other classes?

It's open, but I'm hesitant to sign up as the payment is made by ACH. I wish there was an option to just pay cash for 6 months or a year and be done.
Many years ago, Balley total fitness told me that I had to die to get out of their contract. They also said that they would ruin my credit if I stop paying. I was moving abroad and had signed up for lifetime membership seems like it.
Had to show they plane tickets abroad to get out. So much drama. Now I simply stay away from any contract as much as possible.
Sad because I really need to start with weights in my mid 40s and have the money.

I agree. I would prefer to have a choice in how I pay them. Why can't they just bill my credit card like every other monthly service I've agreed to?

Maybe ask again? I joined a year ago and they bill my credit card.

I’m visiting today and will ask them.

Update from member of new location after it's been open 2.5 months...

Buyer beware - 10 month minimum membership - equipment is breaking already, they had challenges offering full access to all amenities when they opened... first 1-2 months, pool wasn't open, now, equipment breaking, running out of towels (which you also pay extra for); tried to use the hydromassage recovery therapy last night (I paid extra in my membership for the recovery area) and 3 of the 4 machines are broken -- overheating, and if you ask someone at the club, they claim they are waiting on a service ticket and look glum/unwilling/unexcited to reset it for you, enough to give them a pass and walk away w/out the service. Some kind of sediment (looks like sand but who knows) on the bottom of the pool since they opened it, still not cleaned up. Shower temps are already having issues... overall, I suspect whoever constructed this very impressive-on-the-surface gym cut corner after corner; I'd hesitate at the 10 month commitment if I could do it again. Yes, I am going, yes, it's good enough, but for the price without the amenities you paid for when the gym is brand news? Just go in with eyes wide open. Also, if you have zone 3 parking, do NOT pay extra for paid parking -- just park on a side street -- free
