Onelife Fitness NW DC

Is anyone a member of Onelife Fitness in Tenley? Do you have any information on when they are opening their new space? I was thinking about joining back in December and they said they would be in the new space by March. I didn’t join then but would like to consider it again now. I don’t want to call and ask them because they will try to convince me to join today and use the current club until the new one is ready, which is what they wanted me to do in December.

The new club has had delays. First I was told March, then May, now end of summer. I joined at another location and even though I get access to Tennlytown and it’s much closer, I’ve only been twice. It’s awful. But I wanted to get started while waiting for NW.

When I was there in December and said I was mostly interested in fitness classes, they made a big show that the fitness class coordinator was sitting at the desk just to my right putting the final touches on the class schedule for the new space since it was “only weeks away from opening.” It felt like they were just making it up. When they said I had to make a 10-month commitment even if the new facility didn’t open as promised, I walked away.

My spouse is going to leave One Life because of all of the delays and the way they’ve let the Tenley location deteriorate. Pretty sure the new location was originally supposed to open last fall. It seems like a mess. If you’re looking something in that neighborhood, consider joining Crunch for now and reassess next year.

This is good to know. My DS is coming home from college and wants to join a gym for the summer. This was at the top of the list but will now reconsider.

I also joined in October in hopes the new location would be open by Spring. It’s been a nightmare. Every week I call and get a new story about delays. I’m feeling like a sucker now. Last I heard there was a delay in inspections. Whatever.

It’s impossible to get a straight answer

It looked open on their instagram. They have a strike studio and were on fox 5 advertising it.

I called last night and was told there is no projected opening date. Something about inspections. On Monday I was told end of the week. They really need to get their stories straight.

This seems like something the DC attorney general would be interested in. Or a lawyer who specializes in class actions, depending on the contracts everyone signed.

I joined the Tenley gym a few months back. It’s crappy, no question. But it’s convenient for my commute and the new gym will open at some point. I wasn’t bothered by the commitment because if I am not consistently at the gym for 10 months then I will be disappointed in myself. But I can understand why that would be a turn off.

I’ve waited a full year for them to open the new location. The current location is so poorly managed. Zero communication with members. Filthy dirty. Terrible ventilation. And staff members hanging out on their phones a lot. Really down vibe for a place that’s supposed to motivate you. They do have some very peppy teachers with loyal followings but it’s hot and gross in there.

Agreed. Any updates?

The front desk worker told me two weeks ago that they were just told to tell people "it's opening next week". He didn't sound very convinced.

They’re fixing things that came up in the inspection. They don’t even know when DC will grant them a COA. Meanwhile the ventilation sucks and it’s hot!
