My kids love them. |
Were bagels outlawed in 1992? |
I can only get bagels at my local speakeasy. Where do you live? |
Sounds like you don't exercise or sweat much. I need to make a conscious effort to eat more salt, but I workout daily. |
Bagels of any variety are absolutely NOT worth the carbs and calories. They’re so…meh.
I’d much rather have a good french pastry. Make the carbs count. |
Cream cheese! It should really only have a few big crystals on it, not be completely coveted in salt. The Chewish Deli in Alexandria does it properly |
Who are you to tell me what I enjoy more? I had a bagel the other day and it had 9 g of protein. They aren’t all that bad for you. |
The 2020s fear of carbs is so similar to the 1990s fear of fats. It's tiresome. I like a salt bagel with the salt dusted off, topped with cream cheese, tomato, red onion, and smoked salmon. Or toasted with avocado and chili flakes. My weight, labs, and performance in the gym are just fine, thanks. |
French pastries don't really fill you up though... Or you need many of them to feel full One bagel with cream cheese and I'm good to go till lunch |
Don't understand the balking at a salt bagel
Have you ever seen pretzels? I mean the kind that come with so much rock salt it makes salt pool at the bottom of the bag Both popular in the NY/NJ area |
Let’s talk about the cream cheese on said bagel. Has anyone noticed that Philadelphia brand cream cheese now seems gummier and has less of a rich mouth feel and tang? Is there an upgrade available? |
I had to give up the salt bagels long ago but man I loved them! |
Much prefer bagels and potato chips to any kind of pastry. Salt >sugar |
OM.G these were my favorite in my teens and 20s but back then I was a heavy smoker. I didn’t like them very much after I quit 20 years ago. My go to is the everything bagel now. |
Despite heavy lobbying by Big Bagel. Luckily, all those bagel stores that are still in business have managed to elude the Carb Cops (citizen vigilantes don't count) |
