FIFA President says USA has to end pay-to-play system

I suspect some day Veo will develop an AI software that analyzes every practice and every game played under its eye in the sky and provide a service that identifies talent based on an algorithm and statistical probability calculation of athletic performance. The product isn’t the camera but the data it collects. If they’re smart they will develop specific “tryout” templates that optimize the ability to identify talent through the algorithm. Picture 50 kids standing on the field in a 5x5 meter grid each asked to juggle the ball as many times as possible. Keep doing it for 4 mins. The Veo will simultaneously analyze the skill and touch of every player and connect it to an RFI tag they have affixed to their jersey. Then the tryouts move to small side drills to emphasize passing and quick decisions but evaluate the quality of the player’s execution, body positioning and even physiological attributes. Then veo releases their newest product called the “drone talent swarm 2.0” where 50 separate drones are released from the trunk of the coaches car and hover over the field evaluating each player relative to each other player, assessing movement off the ball, work rate, distance traveled, and passing aptitude etc. Before the coaches close the trunk their car the club receives a statistical analysis of what players excel on core skills but also how certain combinations of players align highly against each coach’s pre programmed style of play. If the available players do not indicate a high success potential through the coach’s indicated style of play then the algorithm suggests the other configurations and strategic approaches that do optimize success. The cost model is paid for by professional teams and leagues, colleges, and third party sponsors who provide and gain NIL access to talent and targeted customers. As the scale of the system grows, players will be paid in NIL to play soccer rather than paying for the privilege. It won’t matter if you are rich or poor, blue or green, tall or short, the pathway to greatness will be decided by some 24 year old AI algorithm programmer. Here is the kicker, coaches will also have a drone based product option which will follow them and their actions on the sidelines. Their abilities to communicate and employ adjustments during practices and games will be scored and assessed. Future releases will offer a referee package complete with VAR review. Even clubs can monitor parents and unruly spectators, using collaborations with face identification databases to track spectators that vilolate established rules and norms. Parents who are identified as serial etiquette breakers run the risk of having it noted on their player’s record. Referees will be able to deploy a special drone that can wip out a yellow or red card and issue it to parents who consistently cause disruption and contest the calls on the field. It will be a “Brave” new world, a “Revolution” in sports data, and shut down the rich “Loudoun” mouth parents who often ruin the experience for all.
