Yeah good luck with that:
https://worldsoccertalk.com/news/fifa-president-infantino-says-usa-has-to-end-pay-to-play-system/ |
| Wouldn’t that be nice |
| Not gonna happen. Too successful. Especially in high inflation era - too good a side gig. |
| Lol. The moment he pointed to hockey as an example of not "pay to play" he lost all credibility. |
|
Capitalism baby!
But honestly I feel like so many clubs should just stop gutting the rec leagues to make travel teams. |
What does this even mean? |
I read this -- quite silly. There is no chance of that happening in the US. None. The shop owner gave jerseys and the lawyer gave shoes --- never in a million years would they get the vast amount of supplies and money needed in the US to do this. I sometimes think Euros do not understand the size of the US. |
We have pay to play systems as we have a thriving capitalist based economy which benefits entities that can make buck on anything, like how we pay $2,000 for travel soccer that should cost $200 max in a rec league. Why should all rec leagues just funnel into travel programs? |

1000% agree.
The pathway to playing soccer professionally for girls is just stupid. For boys there's MLSN which is kind of ok. But still stupid but in different ways. |

We pay big money 💰
But the true injustice is what we get for the money |
I just hope there are American dudes overseas pulling the same scam on unsuspecting Europeans. |
| Oops didn’t give punchline: with basketball |
Exactly. Pay 2 play is going anywhere and most people don’t mind paying including myself. At the end of the day are you getting bang for your buck? Answer is a big fat “no” for most families. |
| Can't even align the game here in the states with FIFA... |
| There's some delicious irony in FIFA demanding an end to pay-to-play. Isn't it among the most corrupt organizations in the world? |
