Are Any Fellow Jews Thinking of Changing Their Voting

The politicians are all pretty awful on both sides, but I genuinely think that most Conservatives are less antisemitic than most Liberals, just like most Conservatives are far less racist than most Liberals (including the Jewish ones).

Move away from the communists…come over to the other side!

Very very true. I’ve been listening to conservative radio for years (Limbaugh, etc) and they always support Jews.

The only reason they support Jews is because they believe that Israel needs to be in the hands of Jews for the Rapture to come. Otherwise, they really couldn’t care less about Israel and are pretty anti-Semitic.

I can’t get over how much obvious antisemitism I see—even at my own child’s college—and how I’m being gaslighted and told by non Jews that what I’m seeing doesn’t exist or that since there are some Jews who agree, it can’t be Jew hating.

I can’t imagine voting for Trump, and I genuinely think Biden supports Jews. But I want to send a message to the left wing of the Democratic Party that they are taking Jewish support for granted.

Right now I would not give a blanket vote to any down ticket Democrat without looking at their record on Jews and Israel. And there’s a part of me that really isn’t sure I won’t vote for Trump just because I’m so angry.

Fellow Jew. Politically conservative. A vote for Trump will not yield what the Dem party is telling you it will. Sadly, the Dems have been lying to Jews for decades.

Are hou referring to Dem warnings about Trump wanting to be an authoritarian? Putting immigrants into camps? Imposing high tariffs? Filling his administration with lackeys? Making abortion illegal everywhere? He has literally said he will do these things. Pay attention.

I generally agree with democrats on most issues, and find some of the right’s policies (especially on abortion, LGBT rights, etc) disgusting, but I cannot in good faith vote for a party that seems to believe supporting pro-Hamas actors is more important then protecting innocent Jewish residents.

So you are ready to through under the bus the lives of millions of women and LGBTQ instead of sacrificing a much smaller group of Jewish people? Your dear leader will not be happy with you.

Your argument is that women matter, and LGBTQ people matter, but Jewish people don’t?

I wish I could support all three, I am both a Woman and Jewish, and I have family (and dear friends) who are LGBTQ. I hate I am placed in a position where I have to place my loyalty, but that is where we are, and right now Jewish people are facing an immediate danger with the increasing level of anti-Semitism and violence toward Jewish people. And if the 1930s showed us anything, Jewish people are often the first and most loudly scapegoats used to vilify all groups. Do you really think the Islamist extremist groups that the current radicals are supporting will support women and protect the rights of LGBTQ people? They may be okay with just villainizing Jewish people now because hating Jewish people is “cool” right now, but how long until those same radicals attacking our collegiate systems will start decrying gay marriage, or call for the return of women to a place of marital servitude?

I am always surprise that history did not teach Jewish people anything. They massively voted for Biden despite the knowledge that Biden is not going to codify Row v. Wade and despite the knowledge that Biden (and Obama) sent billions to people who are killing Jewish now. Back then, American Jewish wasn't thinking that one day they will come for their children. This day came, your children are not only harassed but physically assaulted on US campuses, but Jewish people still will be in denial, just like they were in denial on their way to gas cameras.

The U.S. Navy - as directed by Biden - literally shot down Iranian sonic missiles in space that were headed for Israel. Biden saved Israel’s butt.

Yes, on election year.

You’re just ungrateful. Admit that nothing Biden does will ever please you.

But Biden is supporting Israel, right?

I doubt Trump will be better on Israel or antisemitism. He is an America First isolationist/Xenophobe.

Unless your real concern is that immigration and shifting demographics have resulted in an America with growing numbers of Muslims and foreign born Christians who have antisemitic tendencies?

No, not changing the vote. Having witnessed the protests firsthand, it is such a small percentage of overall people on any of the campuses, and there are much more important issues as stake.

I’m a Jew but not a Zionist I’m not sure if I will vote for Biden bc of his reluctance to publicly denounce Israel’s actions in Gaza which have gone way too far in my eyes. There is no moral case for killing that many kids and starving a population. The “but Hamas made us do it” holds no water for me especially with the reports that Israel directed Qatar to fund Hamas.

To me my Judaism is not tied to the existence of Israel. I hope that some day Israel can learn to live with its neighbors (which I think it can only do by acknowledging the harm it has caused in the region and offer meaningful reparations). I believe this is the only way the country can be assured of its long term security.

Oh boy. If you think that Democratic people mad at Israel for starving children and bombing civilians is anti-semitism, wait until you hear about Republicans’ actual anti-semitism.
Anonymous
I get being upset about the antisemitism you see on college campuses but I just don’t see any way you get from that to voting Republican.

*MAYBE* if the only thing you care about is the safety if Israel does that make sense but the MAGA movement is filled with anti-semitism. Don’t kid yourself that Jews are safe from the kind of display that we saw at Ole Miss. Voting for fascism comes to protect the Jews is not going to work out well.

And that’s leaving aside that the college kids are calling him Genocide Joe because he’s standing with Israel.

And that’s leaving aside any notion of what’s consistent with Jewish values, recognizing that people may differ on what that means.

But there is no way I am giving control of the presidency or the House or Senate to Republicans to “send a message” to Democrats about a bunch of college kids.

I’m Jewish and this has made me a more nuanced voter. I hope it will do the same for others. I no longer will vote on party lines. I will try to find centrist politicians who are pro choice, support Israel’s right to exist, strive for unity as a country, support the rights of gay people, are pro sensible gun laws that keep kids safe, protect our borders from unlawful immigration, invest in defense and are of sound mind and body. I don’t know who would want to go into politics these days given the vitriol, but I hope more sensible, middle of the road citizens will choose a career of public service. I’m so tired of the hate and divisiveness.

What is clear is that you have bought into the Biden propaganda about what Trump said.

His complete statement:

Reporter: "Mr. President, are you putting what you’re calling the alt-left and white supremacists on the same moral plane?"

Trump: "I’m not putting anybody on a moral plane. What I’m saying is this: You had a group on one side and you had a group on the other, and they came at each other with clubs -- and it was vicious and it was horrible. And it was a horrible thing to watch.

"But there is another side. There was a group on this side. You can call them the left -- you just called them the left -- that came violently attacking the other group. So you can say what you want, but that’s the way it is.

Reporter: (Inaudible) "… both sides, sir. You said there was hatred, there was violence on both sides. Are the --"

Trump: "Yes, I think there’s blame on both sides. If you look at both sides -- I think there’s blame on both sides. And I have no doubt about it, and you don’t have any doubt about it either. And if you reported it accurately, you would say."

Reporter: "The neo-Nazis started this. They showed up in Charlottesville to protest --"

Trump: "Excuse me, excuse me. They didn’t put themselves -- and you had some very bad people in that group, but you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides. You had people in that group. Excuse me, excuse me. I saw the same pictures as you did. You had people in that group that were there to protest the taking down of, to them, a very, very important statue and the renaming of a park from Robert E. Lee to another name."

Reporter: "George Washington and Robert E. Lee are not the same."

Trump: "George Washington was a slave owner. Was George Washington a slave owner? So will George Washington now lose his status? Are we going to take down -- excuse me, are we going to take down statues to George Washington? How about Thomas Jefferson? What do you think of Thomas Jefferson? You like him?"

Reporter: "I do love Thomas Jefferson."

Trump: "Okay, good. Are we going to take down the statue? Because he was a major slave owner. Now, are we going to take down his statue?

Exactly. Jewish Democrats haven’t been paying attention over the years, but are finally now waking up. Same with so many black Americans. #WalkAway

I’m in DC so my vote doesn’t matter. But I’ve definitely changed my political donations. Right after Trump I donated to ACLU, AOC, and random other “blue wave” Congressional candidates. Even had a recurring donation set up on Act Blue. Now, no more. This is a result of a lot of stuff, not just Israel, but it’s the icing on the cake. I would never vote for Trump, but if I could vote for Congress, I definitely might go for a more moderate R.

This is something that is repeated often on these boards but just isn’t true, and I say that as a Republican.
