I want JW to end up with a young, hot man after mothering Jon Hamm for so much of her life. Sigh. Anyway, glad she has this professional success!

I was surprised that I enjoyed Anne in this--normally I don't care for her. And she's never looked better. Love the long hair with bangs on her.

I wonder if she didn't take ozempic. She's gotten very, very thin.

She’s scary skinny in the movie. She’s 41 IRL. It’s not easy to be that thin. Her arms and thighs are too teeny tiny.

Yes, I was a little shocked by the bathing suit scene. Absolutely zero fat on her body now.

Nice piece of fluff, if silly and implausible. Anne H elevated the material, I thought. The young man's character was so underwritten though, basically a cipher.

And then they had to make her pretend to feel self concious about her body and wear a frumpy caftan at the pool. That was a really false note in the film

It was Notting Hill lite, with gender reversal and age discrepancy added. Agree a big flaw was the love interest's lack of personality. Made it a bit boring, because there wasn't really anything to meaningful to root for other than wanting the main character to end up happy.

I think she's definitely the one who inserted the bit about the fate of the ex's relationship with the young GF. That felt like the revenge fantasy piece.

I hadn't realized he was the blond guy in that royal gay movie (which I didn't like, and didn't find either guy hot in which probably contributes to why I didn't like it).
Oh, I loved it! Loved them both in it. Adorable slightly smutty fluff.

He was good in Red, White and Royal Blue but I think he had the better chemistry with Sofia Carson, as the two leads in Purple Hearts.

I was surprised to learn Jennifer Westfeldt co-wrote this. Her material usually has more of an edge. This was a little disappointing tbh.

I don’t think she was hesitant about her body because of her weight. The other girls that had implants and/or perky 22 year old breasts that haven’t been through pregnancy and breastfeeding and such. Before she covered up, she was seen trying to push up and push together her breasts so I think she was self-conscious about that, not excess weight. They also had 22-year-old bikinis and she was in a mom bathing suit.

That scene was great.

I'm sure she was clear on the assignment here. Also, the studio had final say and probably sanitized anything actually interesting or edgy in the script.

Haven’t seen the movie but my understanding is that they cut out the edgier stuff from the book. For starters, The guy was like 19 and the daughter was obsessed with the band. Solene though worried about aging knew she was very beautiful. I don’t recall her feeling very threatened by younger women in the way described above.
