Haven’t read the book or seen the movie yet, but as a woman in her late 40s with kids (including sons) there’s no way I would feel comfortable dating a 20 something or even 30 something. So I completely understand the premise of the movie and why the female lead would say such a thing.

Obviously you haven’t read the book then.. I am a 40-something mom as well. I never fantasized about younger men but since recently reading the book, the hot, athletic 20-somethings with nice skin and hair are definitely turning my head! And men my age, not at all. Glad this is an anonymous forum.

How does this work in real life? Does a celebrity guy date older women for fun until they want kids, then go find a younger woman of child bearing age?

Surrogate or adoption probably. That's how celebs do it. Or no kids. Not everyone wants kids

He’s definitely cornered the market on straight to streaming romances. I thought he was great in Purple Hearts. Then again, I had high hopes for Noah Centineo, but he’s struggled to break out of his Netflix typecasting.

I though this was kind of weird because she was previously shown running on the beach with him in a bikini. I get being nervous around them but found it odd she had such a matronly suit when she was previously in a string bikini!

I actually thought her body was better than the young'uns so that was a little weird.

The movie was cute. He was hot and they had great chemistry. Even though it was based on the book, I loved the book so much more. Their breakups were grueling to read through and the details that changed really matter. She was 38 and he was 19 when they got together so that age gap made it too hard for them to stay together and she knew she couldn’t take his 20s from him.

My guess it was an attack of insecurity. I've had that - looked around at every other woman at a party and thought "Wow, I'm the fattest woman here ... by a LOT."
