Private & Independent Schools
| Thank you! Which of the Episcopal schools are better academically - Christ Episcopal or Grace Episcopal? |
I really don't know those two schools
|
| I'd think in terms of which location is better for you: Rockville or Silver Spring and then Kensington? |
| How do you find out which is stronger academically? It seems hard to know without having children in all of the schools simultaneously. I'm having a tough time trying to get a feel for this (beyond anecdotal info). Not trying to be snarky. Just feeling a little overwhelmed... |
| You don't really know. Ask parents at the school, neighbors, co-workers, look at what they offer at the school, attend events, read the school newspaper, look for reputation comments online, you tube, Facebook, rate my teacher, study their website - it will tell you what they value or what they want to emphasize, some give you SAT scores, AP scores and schools graduates attend, scholars. After that they select or deselect you and then it is all chance especially with a young child who is still developing. |
| I know that you said St. Pats was full--maybe it is worth a call to ask them about which of the other schools is most similiar to St. Pats. I found the admissions people esp. Xiomara Hall so helpful. As for Grace Episcopal..remembered that my friend sent her daugther there and loved it--again..that is not a lot of info but is something to start with. Good luck! |
| I have three children at Christ episcopal in Rockville, we switched from MoCo public schools a few years back and have been very pleased. My email is Amanda6069@Gmail.com Feel free to ask any questions. |
Are you kidding? When does it ever have an extra spot in K? For 4th or 5th, maybe. K, never. |
| I am sorry I am new to this and my child got into St. Pats and I thought it was a nice school. Where I am from, there isn't all this drama about schools being so hard to get into. We are talking K for goodness sake. Hopefully OP finds a good school. I can't remember if you have a girl but also consider Stone Ridge..I like that school but we had a location issue getting there--you being in Bethesda..could work great. Not sure about spots before someone gets mad..you never know if at any of these schools if a family has moved, or their finances have changed. A call never hurts. |
I am in the same boat (looking for my child) I spoke to them and wouldnt call having a few spots open In the whole school "desperate", but to each his own. I was impressed with how full they are given the economy actually. Have heard good things about them. Was also impressed by how many of their teachers have their masters in education. |
